In Season 1 Episode 11 Ben Weaver brings in Sam a moonshiner. Andy wants to let him go and makes excuses for him. Ben then says No sir, I'd like to see how forgiving you'd be if you had a store that sold spirits and half the county was cutting in on your sales by making their own again(st) the law. Seeing that Ben was the one bringing the moonshiner in and brought up what appears NOT to be a hypothetical situation, would you be persuaded to believe that alcohol was being sold in Mayberry ( by Ben Weaver ) ? On several occasions you can see a sign in a window that says an establishment is a bar. Also when Aunt Bee opened her Chinese restaurant the placed that closed was a rib and tavern place. They also had beer at the lodge meetings that Andy attended.
