Don Henley and the Dillards

2007-12-01 Thread Cheryl
Steve Martin just published his autobiography called Born Standing Up.
He, too, mentions the Dillards. Steve Martin was making the rounds
playing small clubs in the Los Angeles area and mentions being on the
bill with the Dillards and specifically takes on about Doug Dillard as a
banjo player (Steven Martin being a fellow banjo player and all).

Don Henley and The Dillards

2007-11-29 Thread Danny Taylor
Who would ever think the Rock band the Eagles would ever have anything in
common with TAGS. But I just got an Eagles CD today (a best of two disc set)
and it came with a booklet with comments by Don Henley and Glen Frey on each
song.
When I got to the song Midnight Flyer, I read a note from Don that said,
...I was a big bluegrass fan. the Dillards, in particular, had an enormous
impact on me. Along with Doug Dillard and Herb Pedersen, Bernie Leadon
(former member of the Eagles) was one of the top banjo players in the
country.

Just goes to show you, you can find a TAGS connection just about anywhere
you look.
