Walter Baldwin/Hope Summers
I remember that Walter Baldwin (The Best Years of our Lives, The Lost Weekend) was the original Floyd the Barber in one episode. I recently did a double-take when I recognized him in Rosemarys Baby. Hope Summers (Clara) was also in the movie. I'm sure its been discussed here previously, but whoever casted that movie obviously hadn't seen TAGS, as it seemed a little out of character for Floyd and Clara to be chanting Hail Satan in the final scene. I guess it's the actor of the man, and actress, since Hope Summers played Clara-Bertha-Edwards-Johnson. I think they were naked in an earlier scene, as well, which definitely wouldn't fly in Mayberry. I really don't care to replay the movie to verify. Another bit of trivia: Along with numerous haunted occurences, the building in NYC where much of Rosemary's Baby was filmed (The Dakota) was the last place where John Lennon of the Beatles lived and was gunned down in front of. Hope Summers and serious stuff
Ps Hope Summers by the way told me in 1972 that Andy Griffith was the nicest most giving performer she ever worked with. She marveled at how he single handedly was in full charge of the 8 year long series. And how he had a say in every facet and how he thought of others before himself giving credit to others I totally concur. Tom Kssl, Any idea if Hope Summers liked working with Francis Bavier?? Not that they had to be as good a friends as Bee and Clara, but just wondered??? Andy Griffith it appears to me and this is only guess work must had tested the dramatic waters the last year or so of the show and I saw another intense scene rare for the character of Andy Taylor in this example from Opies Group with Opie joining a rock and roll group.Aunt Bee is concerned but Andy is livid a powerful scene one of several with Aunt Bee and Andy in the kitchen talking about Opie getting carried away with life in the fast lane as rock star.the camera zooms in on Andy as he looks with pure distain into nowhere with a shocked Aunt Bee hearing him say ill just let him go til he gets into just enough trouble and then hell find out something. simple line but delivered with a wallop .Look at Andy's eyes. He's sick of the whole thing and Aunt Bee can only say Why I never heard of such a thing. The writers. And Andy knew naturally Andy had a gift for the dramatic as they dared to brave new unchartered waters . Tom this is a more thought-provoking question. The funny lines are easy to roll off. The serious scenes, serious acting. not counting the sentimental stuff is not as memorable, but to your point, required a lot of talent. ..How about Andy in the Luke Comstock episode when he is sending Aunt Bee and Opie to a neighbor's house. almost reminds you of a sheriff in the old west. ...How about Andy when he deals with Melissa and her Daddy (husband)..he tells them to leave (and I mean Mayberry) ...He is also very stern with Warren a few times...when he sleep-walking chases Helen..and when he make the Bingo arrest ...as far other actor's being serious..I have to give a shout out to Helen for her performance in Senior Play..very convincing actress I'll put the bucket on and see if I can think of more. The Untrained Voice--- I've got a brown suit that's real serious, maybe I can think in that ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/
