My mother once told me that she wished she would have met me before she decided
to have kids. I have often wondered what she meant by that. My mother had a
great sense of humor. One time my brothers and I took her shopping in my
brother's 1954 Pontiac convertible. ( now there was a car). We had the top
down on the way home and she complained about her ears getting cold. We called
her an old fuddy duddy. She got even. She reached into her shopping bag and
took out a new bra she bought and put it on her head so it would cover her
ears. It fit perfectly. I never knew my mother had size 36 D ears. My wife's
mother was named Gladys, but I always called her "Happy Hinder". Linda has 16
siblings and it all came about because her mother was hard of hearing. Her ma
and pa would go to bed each night and her pa would say, "Honey, do you want to
go to sleep or what?" And her ma would always answer, "What?".
