In the color show, The Taylor's Go To Hollywood, I saw something interesting. When they are having a big send off at the bus stop and the bus rolls up, off in the distance I could see a big studio building and a busy freeway.I looked up the 40 acres Backlot and could see the layout.Fascinating. Barney, badgeless (trained noticing)
While watching "Dogs, Dogs, Dogs" this morning, I noticed that after the "giraffes are selfish" scene, wgen they return from retrieving the dogs, Barney doesn't have his badge on, and it's missing for the remainder of the episode, until the epilogue, when it's back on. He's wearing it during the giraffes scene. You can also clearly see the outline of a pack of cigarettes in his pocket. I'm really surprised the state inspector didn't notice. He must have been too preoccupied with the dogs to really be inspectin'. Curt Hueytown, AL ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

RE: Curt's trained noticing
Janet, thanks for mentioning; I will. I have not noticed it (that I recall), so this will further my noticer training. =) The gentleman who pointed out yesterday the federal agent leaving his weapon - you're right - that could have been bad, for more than just the agent. If ole Barn's itchy trigger finger was bad on a revolver, just imagine it on a machine gun. Andy must have confiscated it immediately. LOL p.s. I also added "noticer" to my browser dictionary, so that it will no longer indicate a spelling mistake. I'm enjoying the color episodes I haven't seen in quite a while and thanks to the series DVD's, noticed two new items. In the opening shot of The Statue the camera has a close-up of Howard's arm with Andy's gavel in his hand sitting at Andy's desk and if you look closely, there's a thin telephone book between his arm and the telephone. With the sharp DVD resolution, it looks like the writing on the cover says Mount Airy, so it appears that it's possible Andy had a Mt. Airy directory on set. The filming of this episode would be close to the time frame when he returned to Mt. Airy to move his parents to California. In the next episode Helen, the Authoress when it's mentioned she and Andy are going to Richmond, the scene transitions to Richmond and the publisher's office, a color photo of what's supposed to be the skyline of Richmond is shown, however, that is clearly a 1960's color photo of Charleston, SC with its recognizable church steeples and Charleston styled homes. I don't think these have been mentioned before. Robbie Beech Mtn., NC (soon) ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.mayberry.com/tagsrwc/wbmutbb/

In Man in a Hurry I noticed something. When Mr. Tucked goes to find Andy at the church, the long camera shot of them showed houses in the background. The upclose shot of them had downtown buildings in the background. I wonder what causes that? Bee in New Concord, OH Brenda J. I was wondering.any way i can earn my beginners patch with this sighting?? Thanks to all of you for all of your wonderful posts every day. Have a great Mayberry day!! Bob, you definitely get your beginners patch! Lots of folks catch this---each scene was shot three times--once a wide shot, then twice more, a close up on each actor (Barn and Ange in this case). Then it all gets edited together. The person hired to do Continuity is supposed to keep all this straight, but it didn't always work out. Probably laughing too hard at Barney. After a long time of listening to all the wonderful Trained Noticers out there..and wishing I could someday be a small part of that, I think I finally noticed something that I have never heard of before on the Bulletin Board. I was watching an episode last night where Barney was tring to recite the beginning of the constitution. As I was watching and laughing at Barney and his really messed up hair, the camera changed to a farther away shot of Barney. For some reason, I noticed that his hair was all of a sudden neat as a pin. As I continued to watch, I couldn't help but to laugh even more as every time they had a closeup shot, his hair was a total mess, and every farther out shot, was neat as a pin. I was so excited about seeing that, I wrote myself a note so I would remember to post on it today. I was wondering.any way i can earn my beginners patch with this sighting?? I noticed that as well. They also must like Harness Racing in Mayberry, because that sign appears in The Christmas Story as well as A Loaded Goat but they sure do pick weird places to advertise. Over the Christmas holiday, I had the opportunity to enjoy The Christmas Story episode several times...just seems to get better with age. One thing that bothers me though, is that when Old Ben leaves the courthouse and decides to sneak around to the jail window, he leaves going around by what we know as the Mayor's entrance. However, the next scene shows him sneaking up to the window from what I think should be the left front of the building (facing the courthouse). Glasses in Mayberry and Trained Noticing
Didn't our fat little mayor's daughter Josephine, aka Lydia, wear glasses when she sang Flow Gently Sweet Afton? And when Floss was looking out over the crowd at the reunion she said, Isn't it a nice party? Then she put on her glasses and said, Oh, it is, it is! I noticed something last night that I never noticed beforeever. When Floyd was cutting Andy's hair in the episode where Miss Peggy keeps coming over to make dinner, there actually are little clumps of what looks like hair falling down the sheet Andy is wearing around his neck. Has anyone noticed this and can confirm that that is what it was? the term is a misnomer. I guess it's just one of those mysterious food names like Boston cream pie Well, now I'm disillusioned! Next you'll be telling me Chicken Cordon Blue shouldn't really be that pretty azure color it turns when I make it. I've had friends from up North tell me when they heard Chicken Fried Steak, they weren't sure if there was chicken in it or not. Last night I watched the episode where Opie finds the $50.00 and noticed a couple of things. Please be indulgent if they've been mentioned before. When they are counting down the time for Opie to claim the money, they gave the all clear when the long part of the second hand pointed to the 12 instead of the shorter, pointer end. So I think they actually were 30 seconds too soon. Also when Opie brings his new fishing pole to the courthouse, he's waving it around and reeling. It looks like there's line on the pole, but not any being reeled in.
