Mayberry in time

There has been some discussion as to the time frame of TAGS, they may have had 
60's automobiles but the movies and actors they mentioned are not from that 
timeframe. Barney borrowed $5.00 to take four people out to dinner could you 
get dinner for a dollar in the 60's?  And I don't believe the ad's in the 
grocery store window was of that period either.
Speaking of that episode Barney knew he wasn't really taking them out to dinner 
so why did he borrow $5.00?

A favorite color episode

One of my favorite 's is The county clerk. Andy,Helen, Howard and the county 
nurse get all decked out and go out for dinner and dancing. They all looked so 
nice dressed up. The only drawback was Mrs Sprage and that makes me wonder how 
did  the double dating couples manage a whole weekend in the cabin at the lake?

I grew up in a small town, Tunkhannock Pennsylvania we walked to the Church for 
services and the children went to Sunday School at 10:00 and the adults went to 
Preaching at 11:00 of course you could go to both but if you were only going to 
the 11:00 service you said you were going to Preaching as opposed to Sunday 
School.

I didn't know Goober was a ventriloquist but in this episode Andy Goober and 
Howard are on the bench and Andy says "I've done some livin' " and without 
moving his mouth Goober says "you can say that again"

I found this odd I've been watching the first season. And I have yet to see 
Howard nor Gooober at work they are either hanging out at Emmits or Sams office 
don't you find that odd I would think Howard would be showing off his new " Pad"

I see George Lindsey, Goober, quite often on Gunsmoke and the Rifleman usually 
he's an outlaw. On one show Goober and Dud Wash were brothers. Today one I 
never expected to see in a western was "The man in a hurry" it was odd to see 
him dressed in western clothes, toting a rifle.

Someone posted that in the loaded goat episode there is in the opening scene. A 
guy in a baseball cap sitting on a stool in front of mayor stoner Andy walks in 
front of him to get cream for his coffee then he walks back as the goat enters 
an the man has disappeared along with the stool I went back and watched the 
episode and I noticed something else Hudge says  mayor Stoner is putting in the 
underpass so the road will pass in front of his brothers filling station I 
never heard of Stoners filling station only Wally’s did Mayberry have 2 filling 
stations?

I was watching A Family visit and I noticed that everyone had to double up to 
sleep.  No spare room Now not to gossip  but 2 shows later Aunt Bees old beau 
Roger comes to visit and aunt Bee takes him upstairs to settle in where?

I have all the seasons of tags and at least once a year I watch from beginning 
to end a few each night. It’s fun
I watched the wedding to check out Andys house there was one house on the 
street with a big tree in the yard but no hedge and no porch furniture not so 
sure that is the Taylor house

Today on Gunsmoke I saw Ronnie Howard at about 14 also James Best 
I noticed Rons teeth were really spaced apart and James was a man full of face 
unshaven 
hair like the Beatles style they both looked very different than on tags
I was doing some research on line and saw a 1966 ford truck with Emmitts fix it 
shop used in Griffith s 25 Anniversary show
I never saw that show anyone know of that show???

Sighting(sort of)

I watched a movie called A Holiday to Remember with Connie Sellecca and Randy 
Travis and other well known personalities. A recently divorced woman and her 
daughter return to the hometown in SC where her X boyfriend still lives the 
town was Mayville but it was (mistakenly ha ha) mentioned a couple of times as 
“Mayberry” I searched the credits for a connection to TAGS but I didn’t find 
one,not that I’m an expert by any means anyway I thought it was cute

while watching The Burns & Allen show I spotted 2 alumni I don’t know their 
names but one was the dry cleaner guy aunt Bee dated and the other was the hobo 
that Opie and his friends tried to help while playing Robin Hood I don’t know 
the year that show was on but they were both much younger than they were on TAGS

look right to me so I pulled up other years and 1938 seemed to look more

I also saw James (the guitar player) on In the heat of the night. I do not know 
when that show first aired but he was grey haired grey mustache and a few
