Sorry I was confusing the scripts, webchecker is actually to check for
broken links, the one I was refering to is urlwatch which is written in
python, you can get here:

[libreoffice-website] Keeping track of changes in global website

2011-06-04 Thread Takashi Nakamoto
Hi all,

What would be the best way to keep track of changes in the global
website? One of the annoying burdens for local website maintainers is
the work for catching up the changes in the global website and
reflecting them on the local sites.

I'm not sure how the others do, but at least in our Japanese group, each
contributor checks the global site when (s)he is inclined, and ask the
local admins to update our local site. We depends on contributors'
willing heart and their human power, which I think is an inefficient
way. We have actually spent much time to check the global site around
the time of 3.4 release.

I personally think that if we can get diffs by mails, it will be easier
to maintain local sites. If there's already an effective method to
follow the changes in the global site, please let me know.

Best regards,
 Takashi Nakamoto

I have one question regarding this page.

Why does "DataPilot" come after "Impress/Draw"? I think it would be
natural if it comes as a part of "Calc feature and fixes". Yet,
"DataPilot" should be replaced by "PivotTable" mechanically in this page.

Best regards,
Takashi Nakamoto

Good point on all of these. The DataPilot section should be moved to the
end of the Calc section and renamed PivotTable. Maybe we could keep it
as a section for this version only as the name has been changed and it
will be easier for users to see the name change.

The localization point about the DataPilot changing name should also be
moved to the PivotTable section.

Should I go ahead and do this?

I think so. Seems no objection.

Moreover, the same modification has already been done by others in the
wiki page you may have referred.

 Takashi Nakamoto

[libreoffice-website] Re: manifesto

2011-06-04 Thread John LeMoyne Castle
Wow that was fast! -- many thanks to you both Christian and Florian.

I still think the Manifesto deserves a more prominent place
- because of its centrality in the formation of TDF and
-because agreement to the values is the primary requirement for membership
in TDF: agreement that leads to ongoing contribution to the LibreOffice
'brand' being the full requirement.

Well - if you want it outside the assets hierarchy, you have to use
filesystem access - but do you want to have it outside? If so, then I

[libreoffice-website] Next Decade Manifesto Unreachable?

2011-06-04 Thread John LeMoyne Castle
Today, as part of looking at membership in the TDF, I found the PDF link is
broken on the Next Decade Manifesto page --
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/TDF/Next_Decade_Manifesto That Wiki
page is clearly marked Do Not Modify so I report it here. However, in
trying to make a full report (suggesting a link) I discover that I can not
find the Next Decade Manifesto in any form on either the LibreOffice or TDF
websites... and I rooted around quite a bit.

Perhaps the Manifesto has been deprecated but I dont think so. At least I
hope not. It is a big part of why I became a contributor last year and why
I have recently returned. Personally, I think it should be available on
every page because it is that central. Here is a shorter list of pages that
could use a reference the manifesto's set of four self-evident (therefore
powerful) reasons for TDF/LibreOffice with ideas about where to place the
link:

http://www.documentfoundation.org (part of self-intro in Welcome)
http://www.documentfoundation.org/foundation/ (Our Mission)
http://www.documentfoundation.org/faq/ (Why a Foundation?)
http://www.documentfoundation.org/contribution/ (Tell the world you share
our visions )

For libreoffice.org: Next Decade page located in --
http://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/ -- with links from front page and
other About Us pages and the top of the Get Involved page.

Not a large project - one static page (or link to Wiki) and 5-10 links for
each of the two sites TDF and LibO.

Please bring the Next Decade Manifesto into more prominence.

[libreoffice-website] Request for layout proposal of a new Extension-Website

2011-06-04 Thread Andreas Mantke
Hi all,

I have worked (with the support of one of the core developers of Plone) on a
new
environment for LibreOffice-Extensions, that we can setup on one of the servers
of
The Document Foundation. The new environment is currently on my local PC but
will be
soon available online.

I'll put some screenshots of my current site on the wiki page:
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Exitensions-website

I asked on the design-list today for a logo for the new site. But I need also a
proposal for the whole layout of the site (colors etc.) Feel free to add your
layout
proposals to the wiki page. If you need more information please ask on this
list.

Regards,
Andreas
