Re: [libreoffice-website] Re: web help
Thanks Erich, Christian The areas I can possibly help with would be Server Maintenance, Site maintenance(php, html, css) and Bug triage(QA). I am familiar with Graphics but its not something I really enjoy doing. I have not used silverstrip but I downloaded it and will be reviewing their code. I mostly code using the Code Igniter . Helping with documentation could be a option also. Let me know your thoughts. [libreoffice-website] Shuffler
Different question. I'm trying to get the shuffler to work on gd (currently frozen). I've looked at the Photo Shuffler tab but I can't figure which directory the shuffler draws it's images from on the English site and there's quite a few to choose from. Re: [libreoffice-website] An Observation
Hello again, I.e. nl-sites just use the english structure as a guide for their own content, in effect many nl-projects do end up in "just" translating the english site, also your proposal strongly suggests that. Well, I can see the good thing about the flexibility. In my case, not being good at html and pressed for time, I did use the English site mercilessly as a cribsheet. You were right in the sense that once you get the hang of it, it's not hard. But the very first time you're dumped in the silverstripe main screen is a bit... scary. For one thing I was half worried I'd break the English site if I hit the wrong button. What might be good would be a couple of skeleton templates for new/small locales with lots of stuff just to get you over the first hurdle. However: How would you put the nl-project's pages in the face of visitors? Just redirecting to.libreoffice.org won't do - as many are still in heavy constructions, only have a tiny fraction of the content available on the english site, and people were against putting a list of locales in the header/footer for similar reasons. Well... if it was easier to navigate between the English site and other locales, having an automatic redirect wouldn't be so much of a problem. Anyway, even without the redirect, I can't see what the issue would be with a Wikipedia style language bar on the left or right which allows you to navigate between languages if corresponding pages exist. People seem to cope very well with different Wikipedias offering different amounts of info depending on the language; I don't see what this should be different. I'm afraid I don't have anything more "concrete" to propose but I didn't just want to mutter darkly to myself to find out years later that it was just some simple oversight :) Best Michael -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to website+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hard to tell as you don't specify what your "area of expertise" is/what you would like to work on. But currently we're looking for someone to implement the downloadpage proposal into html+css so it can be added to silverstripe. See the mockups here: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Whiteboards/Download_Page For this, you'd know html and css. If you're more the graphics type of person and would like to create something like a webbanner, we could use one that promotes the various native-lang sites. If you're more confident with working with words, then feel free to suggest any additional page you want, don't be shy to point to any errors or missing information. If you know php, then one could work in extending the CMS to make it more comfortable for the native-lang admins. What they keep requesting (and where I always reply that I'm going to add it - sorry for still not bringing my ass up to it) would be a way for them to at least see the list of members on their subsite (and then as extension of that to be able to add members themselves, instead of having to post here and have site-admins add them). (we use silverstripe as CMS, so if you're willing to dig into creating this management view, then you're more than welcome) Another php and page-templated related item is to add the possibility for the NL-sites to include their own twitter and planet feeds on the homepage. We're currently not looking for general server maintenance people though. So sum-up we could need: * css/html * banner/graphics * editorial stuff (review content/check whether pages are up-to-date, whether stuff is missing) * php/CMS work If you're interested in any of the above just pick one :-) If this reply is not what you had in mind, please tell us what area you were thinking of - the list above is not complete, just what came up to my mind right now... ciao Christian -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to website+h...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
