[libreoffice-website] Re: Extensions-Site-New: Current Dev-Status

2014-09-18 Thread Jean Spiteri
Andreas, could you add a field in the page which promotes where the
extensions' source code is hosted to try and encourage people contributing
to these as well?

Sincerely,
Jean Spiteri.

 one
offers a simple summary table and big green download button. Very user
friendly. The new LO site does no have enough content yet to get a clear
impression of how it has improved.

In terms of user feedback/content, the AOO page provides a lot more
 opportunities:
 1) There's a score from 1-5 stars

This is similar to , but provides more granularity, than an up/down vote.

 2) Compatible with OpenOffice 4: Yes

We don't have any uploaded files on the extension test site to compare...

 3) User feedback: Compatible with OpenOffice 4.x? (up/down votes as
 percentage)

This kind of feedback is very useful. Even better would be a bar
chart/heatmap corresponding to each version of an extension. There
could be a slot for each version of LibreOffice (we'd only display LO
 versions that have been tested).

We could perhaps take a cue from WineHQ's visualization:
 https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=applicationiId=648

From a support point of view I feel it would also be good to enforce
 visible
contact details for extension publishers. At present it can be difficult
 to
track down the author of an extension. I often find myself in forum
 answers
stating (try to) contact the extension author without being able to
 offer
much in the way of further assistance.

Andreas -- Could this requirement be tied to the creation of an
 account with extension-publishing powers?

Ideally we'd give the user an option of providing an email address or
website url. We'd want to include some language suggesting that we
might deprecate or disable the pages of publishers/extensions that
don't have an active support mechanism.

[libreoffice-website] question

2014-09-18 Thread Jeffrey sjef...@yahoo.com
Ladies Gentlemen,

I am using LibreOffice 3.6.

For the first time ever, I had a problem with the software as follows: I
highlighted and cut a very large portion (several pages long) of a letter I
was drafting and sought to move it and paste it in to a new location within
the letter.

When I sought to paste that portion in to its new location, the program
instead inexplicably copied the paragraph immediately above the new location.
Despite repeated attempts to paste the large cut portion of the letter as I
have done countless times before, I could not do so.

I assume the cut portion is lost forever. I have not closed the letter, but
have saved it. If I am wrong and the lost portion of the letter can be
retrieved, please do let me know asap.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Schaub

Re: [libreoffice-website] question

2014-09-18 Thread Tim---Kracked_P_P---webmaster

That might have been a bug that was fixed in the 4.0 or 4.1 lines.

We have gone past 3.6.x for a while now.
3.6.x ended with 3.6.7 in the summer of 2013?
4.0.6 ended that line in November of 2013?
4.1.x ended that line in the spring of 2014?
4.2.6 and 4.3.1 are currently out.

I would try 4.2.6 just to get the better support for OOXML formats and
added options and improvements.
