Hi Jesse :)
Thank you for your presentation, that's great. I see you already did the
first steps of our Join process, you probably cloned our repo too.
Your skills are fine, although we use just HTML, CSS, JS and some Python
scripts to build the websites. For translations strings we use a few Genshi
markups, but his shouldn't be a problem for you.
Just come to #fedora-websites on freenode, even if you just want to say
hello.
See you soon.
Regards.

Self Presentation

2018-05-22 Thread Xhesi Balla
Greetings everyone,

My name is Xhesi (Jesse) and I am a 23 year old software developer from
Albania, and for the past few years an aficionado of the opensource
community. I have been interested in contributing to open source or quite a
while but I never was able to take the first step until now. I really hope
to be able to cooperate with a diverse group of people from all over the
world with different kinds of skill sets and backgrounds, and be able to
share my knowledge and acquire new skills while contributing to the
community.

I started coding back in high school about 7 years ago and I haven't
stopped doing that since then.

A little something of my skills and and experience that might be useful:

Most of my career I have been a full stack developer, and I am very
familiar with different technologies including the lamp stack, .Net and
mostly JavaEE.

I have been involved with many mid to big scale projects so far, but I
still have a long way to go.
Some of the programming languages that I have spent quite some time working
with them and I really like are JavaScript, Java and PHP. I have been doing
some C/C++ in my early days of programming but I don't consider that my
forte.
I also posses some pretty good foundations on data persistence mostly
relational databases, MySQL and PostgreSQL.
I also have good knowledge on VCS tools(Git), CI, Containers and Linux
servers administration and I am very familiar with Agile methodologies
including SCRUM.
Some of the frameworks that I have had the chance to work on are Laravel,
Angular 2 and Spring Framework.

The website project seems like good place for me to be able to contribute
with my skills.

All the best.

Hi Michele,

your skills are fine, our websites are based on bootstrap and use mainly
just HTML and CSS with some Javascript. Our builders and scripts are in
Python, but if you know PHP this should not be a big problem for you. We
also use Genshi markups for internationalization, that's why you see many
markups when you look at our source files.
Please set up your system in order to start working on some tickets, the
main instructions are on pagure, where you will find also links to more
detailled informations:
https://pagure.io/fedora-websites

You yre welcome to start working on tickets right away and ask for a PR.
Open issues are here:

For any questions and doubts feel free to ask in the ticket or here in the
ML, but we also hang around on freenode in #fedora-websites. You can also

Hi José,

To create and modify wiki pages is totally ok. It's a tool for and
maintained by the community. You haven't done any mistake.

The Fedora project include only public facing website in the category
"Website".

You'll find a lists here :
 * translatable ones
https://fedora.zanata.org/version-group/view/web/languages/fr

Some are missing because : non translatable.
 * git repo : https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/tree/master
I don't know where is fedora-hubs (development in progress) or
http://developer.fedoraproject.org/.

I started a full list of sites maintained by Fedora community to help
newcomers, the Idea it two help understanding what's translatable, and why.

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/G11N/List_of_Fedora_sites

The work hasn't progress in the last weeks, because of F24 translation
focus, but I'll improve it for Flock.

@Websites team : please correct me if I misunderstood something.

Hi Robert,

Thank you for answer. I am afraid I have already violated the law. I
probably need to beg some pardon and I will read the pages you point to
understand better.
In fact, as a newbie, I answered a lot of questions about the
translation process and get answers that led me to write pages on the
website directly.
You can have a look at them here:
 *
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/Translation_Status_of_Guides_on_Zanata
--> his page is intended to serve a basis for future discussion with the
Docs Project
 *
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/L10N/how_to_build_a_translated_book_from_translated_files_on_Zanata
--> this one is to respond to a request of one of the French team
coordinators who wished to have a built version of the translated book
I had translated before in order to facilitate the translation review
and approval.
More over – this has nothing to do with translation – I started a page
to explain how to setup Japanese writing on an occidental system -->
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_write_and_read_in_Japanese_with_an_occidental_system

I have not yet read the pages you point me at, but I feel I have done
something probably wrong. Please tell me what I should do with this pages.
