1. Looks like you forgot to "import syslog" in your file dbexample.py
(which is not part of WeeWX).

2. The rain exception looks like it could be triggered if a rain event
happens in the very first record inserted into a database. I'll add a check
for that.

Thanks, Vince!

[weewx-development] couple crashes running beta4

2019-12-15 Thread Vince Skahan
Two crashesboth b4 on a pi4 under python3

   - First was me messing with the network. I replaced my network switch
and the pi4 (wireless) lost connection to the WeatherFlow Hub (also
wireless). The error seems to look like I'm missing the python syslog
module perhaps () although it 'is' there. I can run python3 and do an
   'import syslog' interactively.

   - Second was overnight, some kind of units thing () as rain started.

Just as a comparison, my 'wired' pi3b+ running 3.9.1 looks like it 'did'
restart automagically but the processes stayed healthy throughout. The
network was down 17 minutes while I was fiddling with wires. I grabbed the
pertinent time periods from the wired pi just as a comparison of what 3.9.1
did

FWIW - I updated to beta 5 this morning on the pi4 just in case to see if
the rain crash thing reoccurs.
