[weewx-user] Re: Upgrade to version 3.6.1 and 3.6.2

2016-11-28 Thread mwall
tom,

what version of debian were you running before you upgraded weewx?

what version of weewx were you running before you upgraded weewx?

what locale does your pi use?

how long did you wait?

the wmr300 driver will now read historical data when weewx starts up.
since the wmr300 holds tens of thousands of records, it is possible that
you did not wait long enough. you should see messages about "catchup in
progress...". reading the history takes considerably longer on a pi than
on a 'normal' computer.

hopefully you are not facing them, but there are some outstanding issues
with the wmr300 driver. the driver in 3.6.2 works fine on some systems,
but not on others. it seems to be due to changes in libusb, but we're
still figuring it out.

[weewx-user] Upgrade to version 3.6.1 and 3.6.2

2016-11-28 Thread mot23 mot23

Dear Weewx users,

System: Debian, raspbian os.

Station: WMR300.

For several years I am a grateful user of weewx. Until now I never had big
problems.

However, I am having trouble with upgrading from version 3.6.0. First I
tried to upgrade version 3.6.0 to version 3.6.1. The installation went
properly, but weewx fail to boot. Assuming that this problem will be fixed
in the next version, I've been waiting for version 3.6.2. However, this
version has exactly the same problem.

I have tried the following:

- Update version 3.6.0 while preserving config file to both 3.6.1 and 3.6.2.

- Update version 3.6.0 without preserving config file to both 3.6.1. and
3.6.2.

- A clean installation on a clean system for both 3.6.1. and 3.6.2.

All of these attempts lead to the same result. At the time weewx reads
records from the last known datum, the system hangs. Nothing happens or is
written to the log file after that.

See here the log for detailes:

I hope there is someone who has a clue what could be the problem.

Tanks in advance,

Tom

[weewx-user] Re: NWS Alerts

2016-11-28 Thread Monachus
Thanks for the suggestions. I found this way, although not particular to
Weewx, but it works.

1st - get text for warnings via script, and pipe to a file (run the script
every 5 min with cron):

curl https://alerts.weather.gov/cap/wwaatmget.php?x=OKZ060 | awk -F'[<|>]'
'BEGIN{ORS="";} /|/ {print $3 "\n"}' >
/var/www/weewx/exfoliation/warnings.html

2nd - include the text somewhere in your skin templates:

This presumes you are using exfoliation, on Ubuntu server. Modify to fit
your needs. I am sure someone with more experience could suggest
improvements, or do this with python and make it native to Weewx.

The upgrade process does not touch the skin subdirectory.

I^ve had WeeWx running on El Cap here for a month or more; no problems at
all. Only caveat is that I am running in Simulator mode so far and have not
connected a USB cable from my Davis VP2 yet. I have, however, used
WeatherCat and a Meteobridge unit on this same machine (Mac mini mid 2012)
at the same time and w/o problems.
