[weewx-user] dot plots instead of continuous lines???

2019-06-27 Thread Chris Richmond
Hi, I've set up another station (Vantage Vue), and finally got things
worked out. Running 3.9.1, but
the thing is, the daily graphs are disconnected dots rather than lines.
Weekly are lines. The setup
is all stock using the Seasons skin. There isn't anything amusing in the
system logs. This is the last
30min of weewx messages below.

The Vue is on a serial datalogger on a Pi model B+ that's recently set up
with RTC + NTP on Ethernet.

I'm pretty sure this isn't expected. Next steps for resolving? I can
start over if that help, but that's
likely not the problem.

Is this an archive interval on the console that needs to be set to 5min?

Thx, Chris

For one thing the Pi 4's new SoC is on paper 2-3x as efficient as a Pi
3, so things may either run ~2x as fast or waste fewer cycles getting
the job done.
Only way to know is to run exact same OS version and software stack on
two different units side-by-side, and measure how many watts they're
actually pulling nominally and during peak times and actually compare
the two.   YMMV.  =D

I'm holding out for the 4 GB Pi 4, which is out of stock already,
where I live.
Not needed for WeeWx, but as my main development platform, while a
slower Pi Zero runs the code developed and unit tested on the Pi 4.

I sure do like having a faster box so compile times are faster.  =D
And to that end, eventually there will be a 64-bit Raspbian on the
official support train, in which case the additional memory will get
me past some hurdles where the 2 GB virtual memory per process
currently has me shutting off SW features that gcc/ gplusplus can't
manage to build with only 2 GB VM.

But I digress.  ;-)

We've had zillions of reports of people with complicated/multiple skins and
other software on the same box who overload a pi.

All the analysis reports on the pi4 say it draws more power and runs much
hotter, some even advocating active cooling. As always, reports are
sometimes not worth the bits they're written on, so I was curious for
real-life folks doing similar non-intensive things. But still it looks
like a pretty solid box for well under $100 end to end.

The real Gbit ethernet and usb3 enough gets me interested, once the Fliirc
case (https://flirc.tv/more/raspberry-pi-4-case) is available I'll probably
grab one. Those cases are excellent on the pi3 and pi3+ and look pretty
good too.

Well, does it?
Pi's are power managed in that they draw what they need based on what they're

[weewx-user] Re: Belchertown skin 1.0 released!

2019-06-27 Thread Pat
Adding new pages is a manual process and not well documented. It will go
something like this:

1. Create your page. You can use the about/index.html.tmpl as a good blank
template to begin.
2. Add it to the navigation menu inside header.html.tmpl
3. Add it to skin.conf under CheetahGenerator

Please note, if you upgrade the skin using wee_extension --install, the
skin.conf and header.html.tmpl files will get overwritten. So you'll either
need to do manual upgrades, or be prepared to re-add your custom settings.

The aggregate min_ge() will do what you want. For example, the number of
days of the year with temperature greater than or equal to 20°C would be

$year.outTemp.min_ge((20.0, "degree_C"))

You can make this look a little prettier by playing with the formatting:

$year.outTemp.min_ge((20.0, "degree_C")).format("%3d")

did you add the stanza to weewx.conf as Matthew said?
did you specify the correct port in the stanza - Matthew said you may need
to change what he had written?
you should not need to modify sds011.py for the different port, but you do
need to modify the port setting in the sds011 stanza in weewx.conf
there should not need to be any changes to the services
the .sdb file will be created at the first archive interval - not before

I would like to have some statistical numbers in my reports. Most of these
numbers are available in the monthly / yearly summery, but one thing is

I would like to see the number of "tropical nights", that is the number of

modifications to the default skin, but I don't know how I could do this.

Hi

When you run the wee_config --reconfigure

it lists the normal question about weewx but no reference to the new sds011
setup

so a couple more questions please

I know my sds011 is connected tn port USB02 so do I need to modify
sds011.py ?

will it now create the pm.sdb in the weewx archive folder ?

also the service section under the weewx engine is not modified what do I
need to add here?

thanks for the information
