2016-08-19 Thread Severin Glöckner
Follow-up Comment #3, bug #24986 (project wesnoth):

About screen tearing in KDE, I got rid of it in almost cases with setting
Tearing prevention ("vsync")[see linked picture] to never (yes, ironically
this helped a lot. Just don't leave it as automatic)
and adding /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-intel.conf with

Section "Device"
   Identifier "Intel Graphics"
   Driver "intel"
   Option "TearFree" "true"
EndSection

Maybe somebody can link to this upstream?

  Status:None => Upstream Problem

Follow-up Comment #1:

I'm fairly sure this is a more general problem with KWin's handling of
applications that block compositing and not specific to Wesnoth, although I
don't have a bug number at the moment.

Details:

In the KDE settings are three different options for the rendering backend.

XRender works fine.
The two OpenGL options work fine while (and before) playing wesnoth, but after
closing wesnoth KDE gets terrible. Pictures tell more than words, see the
screenshots.
