There is a line wrap between the field label page name and the page name
field in Special:Log

This is hard to work with. Better, a wrap should occur before the label, or
after the field only,
unless the window is too narrow to accomodate them together in one line.

The problem is that we can't view the logs. I still have access to the
suppressions log and also the oversight log. Is there a server problem or
something?

The same problem is with 'all public logs'.

Best Regards

[Bug 21083] New: api allusers uses current time for registration if there is a null value in the database

2009-10-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21083

Summary: api allusers uses current time for registration if there
is a null value in the database
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: minor
  Priority: Normal
 Component: API
AssignedTo: roan.katt...@gmail.com
ReportedBy: c...@tools.wikimedia.de
CC: bryan.tongm...@gmail.com, vasi...@gmail.com,
soxre...@gmail.com

Some users have a null value for their user_registration in the user table.

From enwiki: select user_id, user_name,user_registration from user where
user_name='Jclemens';
+-+---+---+
| user_id | user_name | user_registration |
+-+---+---+
| 200029 | Jclemens | NULL |
+-+---+---+

But the API reports the registration time as the current time when the query is
run: the query

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=querylist=allusersaufrom=Jclemensauprop=registration

returns: u name=Jclemens registration=2009-10-10T15:20:16Z /

The problem is that the following line in APIQueryAllUsers.php is run
regardless whether the user_registration is null, and apparently wfTimestamp
defaults to the present time.

   $lastUserData['registration'] = wfTimestamp(TS_ISO_8601,
$row-user_registration);

generateSitemap.php does use wfWikiID() in order to generate in sitemaps
filenames.

This contains the name of the database and this is a security issue because it
does make thename of the database (the name of the database could give some
information about the server configuration).

My oppinion is that this should be removed or if somebody consider that it may
be requred it can be crypted like: crypt(wfWikiID()).

If it is removed it should also be removed in css for other skins (modern,
vector, and maybe other).

If it is not removed, maybe it should be moved to a skin independent css file.
Currently the class is missing for old skins like Standard and CologneBlue.

The problem is that we can't view the logs. I still have access to the
suppressions log and also the oversight log. Is there a server problem or
 something?

Specifically, these return blank white pages, which normally indicates php
fatal errors. This affects other wikis as well; updated bug summary
accordingly.

Why does it take that long to close a project? There is a consensus with about
90% support for closure. It is not useful to keep such a project much longer
open. If there is no really good reason, I think it should be closed after
about two months waiting.

[Bug 21093] New: Turn autoconfirmed into a usergroup with autopromotion

2009-10-10 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21093

Summary: Turn autoconfirmed into a usergroup with autopromotion
   Product: Wikimedia

roposals%29/Archive_52#Turning_Autoconfirmed_into_an_exp
licit_usergroup
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Site requests
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: cenarium.sy...@gmail.com
CC: agarr...@wikimedia.org, happy_me...@hotmail.co.uk

We would like at en.wikipedia that 'autoconfirmed' becomes an explicit
usergroup instead of an implicit permission, with an autopromotion method
similar to the one used by the extension FlaggedRevs for the 'editor'
usergroup. The autopromotion would happen after the current autoconfirmed
requirements, on enwp: 4 days and 10 edits (90 days and 100 edits through TOR),
and not being currently blocked.

This is motivated by the increasing importance and use of 'autoconfirmed' in
various domains (abuse filter, bots, scripts, tools, apps, flagged protection,
etc) and so the need for a reliable way to determine if a user is
autoconfirmed, and the usefulness of a list of autoconfirmed users, a log of
autoconfirmations and so on.

Autoconfirmations should be logged in the user rights log, but since it could
risk to clog the log, it should be possible to filter them out, so for those a
LOG_ACTION autoconfirm could be used, see also bug 17293.

Autoconfirmed shouldn't be manually grantable or removable. We would still use
the confirmed group, which could be renamed to preconfirmed, as it's a source
of confusion with other items.

The abuse filter has a way to suspend autoconfirmed, which could be affected.

--- Comment #1 from Tim Starling tstarl...@wikimedia.org 2009-10-11 03:39:48
UTC ---
The problem is that Wikimedia Mobile uses a naive caching system with a fixed
expiry time and no method, manual or automatic, to purge cache entries
following an article update. There were further reports on IRC today when an
image was deleted from the main page, causing long-term breakage of the mobile
main page.

mobile1 is currently not reaching 100% CPU even when the cache is empty. So I
reduced the cache size by a factor of 5 to reduce the effective expiry time.
This will reduce the impact of this bug.

I suggest either removing the cache altogether or implementing a proper
invalidation scheme. We can easily scale up the CPU usage by adding more
servers.
