[Bug 23809] mwEmbed is hard to debug
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23809 --- Comment #2 from Platonides platoni...@gmail.com 2010-06-06 15:34:55 UTC --- Hello Michael, I realise this a consecuence of those tricks, so it is hard to make simple. On bug 23808 I only saw that some javascript was adding something wrong. Commons has a lot of custom javascript, and the only tip to identify which to blame was the text For improved uploads. So I stated looking at eit.js, upload.js, htmlform.js, MediaWiki:Upload.js... to make things harder, some strings come from a /lang url, I also searched along the MediaWiki namespace and Special:Allmessages. I finally launched a sniffer, that's how I found the jsScriptLoader.php?class=window.jQuery,mwEmbed,mw.UploadHandler,mw.UploadInterface,mw.Firefogg,$j.ui,$j.ui.progressbar,$j.ui.dialog,$j.ui.draggable url where the string was (between a lot of gobbledigook :). I was just looking for who was adding the text, so I ended there. If I was going to actually coding something related to it, I think a comment at the top of the minified file would have been convenient: a note about debug=true, or perhaps a url on how to debug it, where the debug=true and other tricks can be shared without space constraints. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23815] New: Wikipanion for iPad has a search engine problem
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23815 Summary: Wikipanion for iPad has a search engine problem Product: Wikipedia Mobile Version: .5 Platform: Other OS/Version: other Status: NEW Severity: critical Priority: Normal Component: iphone AssignedTo: hcat...@wikimedia.org ReportedBy: jeffl...@sbcglobal.net CC: tf...@wikimedia.org Something is wrong with the search engine attached to Wikipanion for iPad. I tried to find an article in Wikipanion for iPad about the NBC Pentagon correspondent Miklaszewski. When I typed in his last name (because I couldn't remember his first name) in the search slot and then pressed Search, a page entitled Miklaszewski appeared for about a half-second and then disappeared. Wikipanion then informed me that no such article existed. So I left Wikipanion and then opened Safari for iPad and went to www.wikipedia.com and re-entered Miklaszewski in the search slot. This time I was offered a list of potential Miklaszewski's starting with Jim Miklaszewski which I selected and found what I was looking for. For grins I went back to Wikipanion for iPad and entered Jim Miklaszewski ... and the same article appeared this time formatted for iPad. So what's up with this? The search engine in Wikipanion for iPad should have given me the same disambiguation choices to select from based on the last name that first time that I entered it. Remember the old cookie fortune: a database that plays hard to get loses adherents ... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

[Bug 23816] New: Missing file tracking

Adding built in support for this type of tracking would make maintaining content a lot easier. Platonides suggested implementing this as part of the parser, which makes perfect sense since its used at every purge/refresh/save process -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 23817] New: wfObjectToArray does not recurse into arrays
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23817 Summary: wfObjectToArray does not recurse into arrays Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.16.0beta3 Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: supreme_geek_overl...@yahoo.com The wfObjectToArray global function, when called with $recursive = true, does not recurse through properties of the object that are arrays. As a result, if objects are nested inside these arrays, they will not be converted. An example of a object to array conversion function that *does* handle nested arrays is at http://www.phpro.org/examples/Convert-Object-To-Array-With-PHP.html (at the bottom). I encountered this problem while trying to use the ForeignAPIRepo feature on my wiki with a PHP installation that does not have the builtin JSON functions. It uses FormatJson::decode(), which falls back on Services_JSON to decode the data. FormatJson then converts the decoded object to an array using wfObjectToArray, which is where this failure happens. The end result is this error message: Fatal error: Cannot use object of type stdClass as array in /home/mscs/common/devel/www/html/projects/beowulf/wiki.real/includes/filerepo/ForeignAPIFile.php on line 102 Interestingly, Services_JSON has its own way of returning arrays instead of objects--the flag SERVICES_JSON_LOOSE_TYPE. If FormatJson used this instead, it could bypass wfObjectToArray completely. Perhaps there are two bugs here. I will try to submit patches tomorrow. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
