Going back and forth between normal pages as well as unchanged edit pages uses bfcache just fine. The only case in which bfcache still breaks (due to a bug in EditWarning that's gonna be hard to fix) is when the edit warning pops up and you click OK. However, bfcache only breaks in the sense that the page is reloaded; the edited text is stil there. This is not totally ideal, but I seriously don't know how we could do better. I think you misunderstood. The modified code has to go in the template page,
not the content page. In your example, the template would look something like
this:

The users can then fill out the SF text field Description beginning with an
asterisk and everything should display correctly. There is no need for users to
enter a pipe.

Noted during some testing at Translatewiki in a German interface. A code like:
var t = mediaWiki.msg.get('pagecategories', 6);
$(document).ready(function(){alert(t);});
alerts with pagecategories (same for other existing messages). It doesn't
seem to be undefined, otherwise it would have alerted me undefined, so it
probably didn't get that the page exists

I'd love to come up with ideas, but this complete JavaScript stuff is too
difficult for me (I couldn't even locate where the mediawiki.msg object comes
from).

Are you sure this is caused by your $wgGroupPermissions setting? If you comment
out or remove the ['*']['read'] = false; line, does the error go away?
For other commenters' convenience, line 143 is:

So this seems to point to $wgArticle not being set right, which is strange.

I was testing webkit for some iphone things (using iphone useragent) and
happened to notice that I got an error on pages with video and mwEmbed enabled.
The error is:
ResourceLoader.php:446
TypeError: Result of expression 'source' [undefined] is not an object.
That line reads: var
videoAttribues={'id':_this.pid,'poster':_this.poster,'src':source.src,'controls':'true'}
Now I realize that we won't have video playback on the iphone for the forseable
future (though VLC for iphone was just approved today :D ), but it probably
shouldn't generate an uncatched JS error either.

For me on Safari the size of that textarea is might small (always has been,
never thought to mention it before).
My CSS style there for .mv-player .overlay-win textarea {} says height:15px,
which isn't really readable.
I also note it has width: 100%, but that is not really ok, because 100% of
the parent div is larger than the available width due to padding in the parent.
Suggest using columns and hoping for the best, or otherwise calculating a
suited width based on the higher parent with class=overlay-win
ui-state-default ui-widget-header ui-corner-all (The share this video overlay
dialog).

This should be 'fixed' once the new resource loader comes out with jquery 1.8 and or I could add more delay to when sequencer code is parsed and included so that it 'for sure' overrides the old jQuery library. Not sure how well safari or chrome for that matter will work with the sequencer in general. I should probably put some warning that 'works best with firefox 4' once that comes out.
