[Bug 26311] New: prop module is using pageids not titles for sorting

Summary: prop module is using pageids not titles for sorting

ReportedBy: umherirrender_de...@web.de

vasi...@gmail.com, soxre...@gmail.com

The prop modules are using pageids for internal order, not the title
(alphabetically).

You will see this, when using generator with a prop (example url): The
templates tag is first added to the page tag with the lowerst pageid, not
for the first page tag in the list.

In my opinion is that not a intuitive order. It is possible to change that
order? Thanks.

That is why I say, in same case. For the Template:Color it is possible (comment

{{SUBJECTPAGENAME{{#if:yes|#58;Talk:Foo/bar

does not work (comment 10), because the #58; is for wikimarkup (for the parser

We are sorting on page_id, because that is an indexed field in the database. It
could be possible to sort on (page_namespace, page_title) probably as that is
indexed as well. However I don't know what performance consequences that has.
Intuitively I would say that sorting on an int is faster than on a varchar.

That's not it. In the case of prop=links, we're sorting by pl_from (which
references page_id), then pl_namespace then pl_title. To accomplish the
behavior the reporter is asking for, we'd have to sort by (page_namespace,
page_title, pl_namespace, pl_title), and sorting on fields spread across
multiple tables isn't indexed.

[Bug 26312] New: Heading-field (section=new) uses same name/id as edit summary (action=edit)

2010-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26312

Summary: Heading-field (section=new) uses same name/id as edit
summary (action=edit)
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Page editing
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com

The Heading-field uses the same name/id as the Summary causing javascript tools
targetting the summary to mess up.

ie. a button to insert a template adds ; template Foobar added to the
summary, which is great otherwise, but when adding a new talkpage heading there
is no summary so I'd expect the script to be unable to find a summary and do
nothing.

Instead it does find a summary field and appends it to it.
Likewise there are gadgets replacing the summary with /* Test */ section
added and inserting {{subst:test}}

This is great when editing the page, since it appends the template to the
talkpage and sets the summary correct, but when using the new section button
(section=new) it litterly sets the title of message to /* Test */ new
section.

If these different field would have different name/id attribute values they can
be targetted, detected and used appropiately.

[Bug 26313] New: Adding a new talkpage section, next tabindex after editbox is Search-form ?

2010-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26313

Summary: Adding a new talkpage section, next tabindex after
editbox is Search-form ?
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: 1.18-svn
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Page editing
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: krinklem...@gmail.com

When editing a page I usually press Tab to get in the edit summary after which
I press enter and thus submit the form (save the page).

When adding a new section to a talkpage (section=new) the heading for the
message is placed before the editbox[1] and there's nothing after the editbox,
so pressing tab in the editarea and pressing enter results in a blank search
action being submitted and I have to press the Back-button of the browser to
get back from the search-results-page to my edit-screen which, fortunately in
most cases is saved in the browser, I then submit by pressing Save page
manually.

It would be nice if it's possible to tab out of the editarea and submit by
pressing enter (pressing enter within the editbox does not do this, since a
textarea simply adds a line-break)

[Bug 26315] New: Transparency in the user icon

2010-12-12 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26315

Summary: Transparency in the user icon
   Product: MediaWiki
   Version: wikimedia-deployment
  Platform: All
   URL: http://www.wiki-grenoble.fr/index.php/Accueil
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: User interface
AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org
ReportedBy: seb35wikipe...@gmail.com

The majority of skins have a white background, but when the background is
darker, the icon of the user in the top right corner has a white border which
looks pretty bad.

Could someone add some transparency in the one or two pixels currently white to
have a better look on darker background.

Thanks a lot.

[Bug 11868] Use transclusions to count articles as well

Just a comment from en.wiktionary.org: It does not represent community
consensus to suggest that anyone beyond a small minority wants transclusions
counted. Perhaps a separate statistic that show that, but not the count of
good entries. For example, many assumptions have been made based on the
so-called incorrect behavior. Entries marked with {{misspelling of}} do not
contain any wikilinks, specifically so that they are not counted.
Note: This is no longer correct. All mainspace pages on enwiktionary are
counted due to a bot adding invisible links to all pages that otherwise don't
have links.

(In reply to comment #16)
So we currently have *three different methods* of counting, all different:

 1) on every page update: check for text containing '[['

This is the canonical version; updates to the count on edit assume that the
existing count was based on this -- the total count is incremented or
decremented based on changes in state of this check between previous and new
 versions.

 2) on bulk initStats.php: check for non-empty text

This will overcount, including pages which have text but no links.

 3) on bulk updateArticleCount.php: check for non-empty text and outgoing links

This will overcount but not as much, including pages which transclude
 templates
which themselves have links as well as extensions which record links but don't
contain '[[' in the actual text.

What's the status on this anno 2010 ? Still three methods ?
I guess 3) makes the most sense. Then when saving an article it counts outgoing
links again (which it needs to do to update pagelinks anyway).

When changing templates, the job queue that updates caches within X minutes for
tranclusions (whatlinkshere) etc. could be fixed to update this count as well.

Anyway, keeping three different methods that are inconsistent which eachother
seems a bad thing no matter how we look at it.

[Bug 7005] Show full template call, rather than a link to the template page, when the expansion size limit is tripped

Perhaps there could be a preference Format links to non-existent templates
{{like this|first|second|third}} (alternative: {{like this}}) under
Appearance / Advanced options that defaults to unchecked (and can be checked
for those of us who wish to fix templates and calls to them).

Also, perhaps there could be a preference Prompt me when entering a redlink
under Editing / Advanced options that defaults to checked (and can be
unchecked for those who regularly add redlinks).

Sorry about this. Until then I'll check back in regular intervals to build
 indexes of new wikis.
I've CC'ed you onto 16976, when something that depends on that bug is closed,
that will be a new wiki created. or you could subscribe to the new projects
list as roan pointed out.
