The one using freefarsi fixes the italic/bold-italic issue - this was expected. One more thing that seems (mostly?) fixed are the non-spacing marks: could you guys please check the rendering reordered non-spacing marks section and compare it to the source [1]. The only issue I can see is wrong vertical positioning of the non-spacing marks. Any hints on how to solve that are appreciated (thanks for the firefox bug link, that already helped...). Is the freefarsi version readable? The reason that I am asking is: completely fixing this issue might be beyond the scope currently. For any casual person who visited this bug, like me today, I changed in
Article.php:
if ( $this-getID() === 0 ) {
}
and then I patched my skin to look at oldid and action in URL for adding
noindex,nofollow.
Could you clarify this? I'd like to apply this fix, but I don't quite
understand your fix.
Hello Mark,
my fix is a workaround and not clean. I just added a parsing of
$_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'] against 'action' and 'oldid' in my custom skin and I
add meta tag then.
Let me see if I can find a cleaner way.

The browser might render a non-italic font in an italic way - the render engine I am using to produce PDFs can't do that. = I need a font including all its variants (normal, bold, italic, bold-italic). Everything that is missing will be rendered using the regular font. Something completely different: The direction of the text is sometimes broken. This happens if pretty much anything except plain text is used in conjunction with LRT text when the base direction is RTL. Example: Csub50/subHsub70/sub... (as you pointed out Reza) or an even more fun example: '''توسط word one''' word two - همکاری I can't fix this. Not today, and not anywhere in the near future. If this is supposed to be fixed I need to switch the underlying PDF render engine. Since there is no real alternative to what we use now (reportlab) this is even more complicated. Therefore I am guessing that changing the render engine would take at least 6 months. Unfortunately this is completely out of scope at the moment. If the text direction problem I just described is a show stopper for right-to-left languages than we can stop now. If the problem does not occur too often and is acceptable we can go on. This may be a problem in the rendering library. Can you please try this with SBL Hebrew ( http://www.sbl-site.org/educational/BiblicalFonts_SBLHebrew.aspx )? It's not freely-licensed and its style is also quite old, but everyone agrees that its diacritics support is superb. If we try to use
mw.util.getParamValue( 'TEST', 'example.com?' + $.param({ 'TEST': 'a b+c' }) )
the result will be a+b+c, which is wrong and breaks some scripts. Compare
with
decodeURIComponent(encodeURIComponent('a b+c'))
which results in a b+c, as expected.
Is it possible to fix mw.util.getParamValue so that we can get the original
parameter value?

However, if I change some preferences and press 'save', the emailaddress of the user is changed to an empty email (). I don't see how any changes can be made to this without adjusting the core mediawiki files. What I see is that when the 'save' button is pressed, $formData['emailaddress'] is checked. Since this is not present in the POST data, the variable will be NULL. The checks that follow are whether the variable is '' (which it is not) and whether the old emailaddress equals the new emailaddress (also not). It then defaults to set the new emailaddress, so the user his email is gone after pressing the 'save' button. mw.loader.using always calls ready callback for unregistered modules,
when the callback shouldn't get called at all.
Examples:
mw.loader.using('', function() { alert('running...'); });
mw.loader.using([], function() { alert('running...'); });
mw.loader.using([''], function() { alert('running...'); });
mw.loader.using('foobar', function() { alert('running...'); });
mw.loader.using(['foobar'], function() { alert('running...'); });
I've been able to trace this back to a few problems that are
probably also causing bugs in other parts of mediawiki.js as well.
First, resolve() returns [] for each module that isn't previously
registered. In most places the return value of resolve() is put
back into the same variable as was passed (like
dependencies = resolve(dependencies)), when the original value
might be needed for comparison.
Second, the variable passed as the second argument of filter()
is replaced with all registered modules when passed []. As
can happen when the return value of resolve() is used and it
is passed unregistered modules. Again the original value of
the second argument might be needed for comparison.
Third, compare() may return true or false in ways not intended
at times. Like when used to compare filtered and unfiltered
return results of resolve(unregistered modules). The filtered
and unfiltered results may be the same at times depending on
the current state of all registered modules. The ready()
or error() callback function is called immediately if the
filtered and unfiltered list of all registered modules
happens to be the same at the time.
Four, if somehow both compare tests manage to fail, every
registered module will be passed to request(). Whatever happens
to be the first registered module will have its dependencies
appended to everything else, this new list will be added to
jobs and queue, and work() will do a lot of extra work.
Finally, AFAIK if request() is somehow called neither callbacks
are called because request() doesn't call them and doesn't pass
them onto queue, so work() has no way of calling them either.

After having read your comment, I got the following idea for an ever softer start: This is an idea, which is not implemented in the code, and therefore not possible with current enotif options: Idea allow only those persons to opt-in, who have _edited_ (not an minor edit) an article which they are watching (and want to have e-notified now). In case one wants to run some code before and after the action there is no clean way of finishing this in case the action didn't go the right way. The question would be, what to do if i.e. a user defined hook-function of ArticleDelete would return false. Should ArticleDeleteFail be called or not?
