I developed my extension in 1.18wmf1 then in 1.20 master. One of ResourceLoader
modules, defined by extension has the following dependency:
'dependencies' = 'mediawiki.jqueryMsg',
The 'mediawiki.jqueryMsg' module and it's script is present in 1.18wmf1, 1.19,
1.20 master, but I was really surprised that in 1.18.2 it does not exists so
the page scripts where my extension module is requested were broken with the
following Chrome console errors:
Uncaught Error: Unknown dependency: mediawiki.jqueryMsg load.php:9427
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'options' of undefined GmapFunc:255
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'tokens' of undefined GmapFunc:260
Can I try to catch the client-side error in load.php? I don't know how.
Instead, I implemented the following server-side method to check whether the
dependent modules actually exists:

However, there is already MediaWiki:Recentchangestext. When MediaWiki:Recentchangestext uses certain CSS (negative margins e.g.) to position elements, MediaWiki:Recentchanges-summary breaks it. The solution would be to empty the MediaWiki:Recentchanges-summary message, but neither - nor empty page works. The first case shows the - character on Special:RecentChanges, the second shows the default message. So it is currently impossible to get rid of that message at all. You mean violating RFC 2616? The Content-Length entity-header field indicates the size of the entity-body, in decimal number of OCTETs, sent to the recipient or, in the case of the HEAD method, the size of the entity-body that would have been sent had the request been a GET. Also, HEAD requests, of course, shouldn't have this check. It seems HEAD requests weren't skipped from the check, which is a bug. You could also argue not adding it for status codes 1xx, 204, and 304 (but they shouldn't have a non-zero Content-length. anyway) Like POSTing or PUTing to Swift/S3 will give a content-length of the data stored, not the response. That's the content-length of the client request, not of the server reply, which is what we're dealing with, here. If the server replies the POST with the request size, that violates the HTTP specification. How do you know the response length, then? Really, only the caller of the Http class can determine if the headers make sense for the body in this case. The caller shouldn't need to manually check the content. I don't know if it's been made accessible to the instances yet. It updates every day at around 4 am UTC. The imageinfo reported by the API is wrong if an unrelated image is added to
the query URL. This happens on de.wikipedia.
Compare the two urls below - the first URL returns the correct imageinfo for

The problem is, like a lot of Ajax controls, it fails silently. If I mark something as patrolled, I don't actually mind if it tries repeatedly until it gets through. Usually, I will have moved to the next tab and started reading that.This is a definite problem with alot of web apps: having spent 15 years being trained by the web to expect synchronous communication mediated through the UI of the browser, when the behaviour of the page differs from that of the browser, I get extremely frustrated. Ajax controls often fail unpredictably or silently or report success when actually failing. This is all rather confusing. That said, I think the new interface is a big improvement. For upload profiling: The edit portions tends to be around =1 sec at all times. p90 for purging from swift goes up to 11 sec for much of the day. As a workaround, perhaps the thumbnails purging could be skipped for brand-new uploads, since there should be nothing to purge. The problem (same as bug 34717), is that the Swift container DBs have extremely poor performance and while likely need to be mapped to SSD devices instead of HDD. SELECT queries go fast when the sqlite3 db file is paged in memory, but slow otherwise (much of the time). TorDNSEL actively tests through these nodes to provide a more accurate list. [1] Since users have know about servers they route through, any unlisted node would have a somewhat limited userbase, so I'm not sure if we need to be as concerned about them for spam. But if we really want to catch them all, we would need to do a dns lookup for each connecting ip. Is it possible to confirm that the list is being updated for enwiki, and billinghurst's problems are not related/current? If that's the case, I think this ticket can either be closed, or turned into a feature request for making the extension use the dns method. It should be taken into account that the em measures are affected by the parent elements of each node. For example, if I include a 2em element into a 0.5em container, the resulting font size is equivalent to 1em. In the prototype the body font size has been set to 0.8em, and this implies that a 20% reduction will be applied to any other em-based measure in the document. For example, the sub-title 250 feedback posts on this article that is set to 1.2em instead of being translated to 19px (as stated in the spec), is translated to 18px due to the body font reduction. This difference is not a big issue (just one pixel in this case), but it should be made clear in the specification whether these ems should be computed considering the body font size reduction or not. At the moment I have indicated the specific em to be applied to each final element including the resulting size in pixels.
