However, it's actually not a random list, and this is why we came to use SuggestBot for the first, test version of the extension. We are actually filtering articles on a host of attributes, such as length, pageviews, etc. and want to add more in the future (markup complexity, multiple categories, the list goes on). In other words: thanks for filing this bug, but the project is actually quite a bit larger than one bug can reasonably describe. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I suppose the problem is that
this exception is not caught and handled as expected in some cases. My guess is

Just installed 1.20.2. Pulled database from 1.19.3. Let Mediawiki installer
upgrade the database. Then uploaded LocalSettings.php.

The language code nrm is for another unrelated language. Norman itself has no specific code, except as a private extension of French (such as fr-x-normal), even if Norman has itself 2 standardized variants in Jersey and Guernesey, where these variants have official status, but these standardized variants (which also have their reference dictionnary) still don't have their ISO 639-3 code : if they get one, there will remain the case of the Norman language as spoken by a regional minority language in Normandy in France, on the continent or in bordering French islands (in those islands, there's no sign that Norman is still actively spoken, Norman remains only in rural areas of Normandy). So we are waiting for ISO 639-3 codes for: - Jersiais - Guernésiais - Jériais - Continental Norman or a ISO 639-3 code to group them in a macrolanguage just called Norman, which would be the best code for use on Wikipedia. The use of nrm in Wikipedia is still a bug and it should not exist at all. The Kingdom of France expanded later in the Middle Age to include Paris and make it its capital. Several times extension front-end code has been deployed that fails on some
browser.
We have a browser test suite running at https://wmf.ci.cloudbees.com/ . To my
knowledge those browser tests don't make the simple assertion that all of the
ResourceLoader modules required by the page loaded OK.
Please can you add this assertion to all the Cucumber tests. It's the
JavaScript test (thanks to Ori Livneh):
mw.loader.getModuleNames().filter(function (module) { return
mw.loader.getState(module) === error; }).length === 0
I understand that this is no substitute for runninq qunit tests for each
extension on multiple browsers. But it is a vital assertion that MW pages
should load without errors, and it makes no sense NOT to make it.

See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_gender http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genderqueer Although the Gender field is used primarily for grammatical purposes and there is no universally accepted grammatical convention for non-binary people (for grammar purposes it could simply be treated the same as Undisclosed), I believe adding a choice of Other to the Gender field would help to make projects based on MediaWiki more welcoming to these people, who otherwise are compelled to choose Undisclosed even if they wish to be open about their gender. There is substantial precedent for this on other major websites which also have an Other option for Gender, including but not limited to (from http://nonbinary.org/wiki/Websites_and_social_networks): * Google Profile / Google+ * YouTube * Flickr * deviantART * LiveJournal * MIT's edX Other major open source software has also added it, such as Drupal. Diaspora made Gender a free-form text-field. And Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom allow citizens to list gender as X on their passport. In short, I think adding an Other option that is treated grammatically the same as Undisclosed would be a simple, straightforward change that has considerable precedent and would benefit many users. I've included a patch against version 1.20.2. Most code did not have to be changed because in the current code MediaWiki uses gender-neutral wording (if available) whenever the gender is not male or female. Translation notes: In the patch I use the version-other message which is an existing translation message that just happens to read Other.
