It appears that it appeared to work due to some kind of mysql table cache of previously generated formulae. Hyperlinks in the formulae are exactly what I want to have a well defined semantics for mathematical formulae. I strongly encourage you to keep working on this approach and I'll support you if you need help with that. I feel sorry that you had difficulties with the mathlatexml table. It has been renamed from math_latexml to mathlatexml, which requires another run of the database update. The important step during the installation is After enabling the LaTeXML rendering mode you have to run the database update script again to create the required table. Did you do that? http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Update.php The mathoid table which you were referring to is not used in the LaTeXML rendering mode. I updated the documentation about that table https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Math/mathlatexml_table It's save to run drop table mathlatexml; and run the database update script again. The table is used as cache only to increase the performance of the math extension. In addition I'd like to give you a pointer to a place where the default meanings of the macros can be added. In latexml the file [1] takes care of mediawiki specific commands. Not all of them [2] are listed there. For example there is a command called $\Reals$ (unfortunately only 8 times used in enwiki) but imho a prominent candadiate for a link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Real_number or even better to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q12916 to be language independent. I think we are missing issues here. I will address this comment but let's try to focus on 'orghttp' problem first. The fact that highly broken urls return miss/200 doesn't seem that strange if we are caching negative image lookups on the edge-caches and returning 200 for those (negative lookup meaning an image request we do not have in origin). So, without knowing more about our caching infrastructure, I would not flag this as a problem. Now, let's get back to this once we have taken a deeper look at orghttp issue. Various IP addresses and random hosts (e.g. 0.facebook.com) keep appearing, and get resolved just fine by the backend, even though they clearly shouldn't. There are requests with 0.facebook.com on the User_Agent (facebook-bot) and requests with facebook on the referrer. I see nothing obviously wrong with either. the ugliest wfMsg* stuff which was deprecated in 1.21. Realistically it will be
done all at once by a few persons rather than their maintainers, so one bug

When using hhvm, there are various tests failures, as well as issues when
editing claims on beta (when it works), involving selecting / finding claims by
guid from the Claims (ArrayObject) object.
this is due to a bug in hhvm, for which we made a patch:

The eliminator and closer groups are relatively unprivileged groups, able to delete pages but not able to do potentially dangerous site-wide things like edit the MediaWiki namespace. I think it makes perfect sense to prevent such users from deleting superprotected pages -- or indeed, any MediaWiki namespace page. It seems to me that there are three options: 1. Keep the patch, require edit permissions in order to move. There are plenty of precedents for linking of rights in this way in core, so it's not as inelegant as Tyler makes out. 2. Make the delete action be a separate restriction type, so that pages can be delete-protected in the same way as they can be move-protected There are already four actions treated in this way: edit, create, move and upload, so on the face of it, adding a fifth doesn't seem too terrible. The number of boxes on the protection form is currently about 2 or 3, if you include Pending Changes which also adds a box here, and that number would increase by 1. The interface is not too terrible with the unlock further protection options box unchecked -- the delete protection level would implicitly be the same as the edit protection level. 3. Do not show a delete protection UI, but implicitly treat edit protection as equivalent to delete protection. Edit protection would be conflated, rather than edit rights. If you have to conflate two things, then I suppose it makes sense to choose narrower things to conflate, and protection is narrower than rights. A careful implementation of this option would allow future migration to option 2, if that is necessary. Broadly: option 1 has a convenient UI and has beneficial side-effects, such as preventing eliminators from deleting MediaWiki namespace pages when they don't have editinterface rights. Its disadvantage is its inflexibility and lack of a migration path towards more fine-grained controls. Option 2 has an ugly UI but an elegant backend. Option 3 has a convenient UI and a good migration path, but the side-effects of option 1 may have to be implemented in some other way.
