See for instance: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Blocks_and_protections#Protection_of_File:Political_Regions_of_Sudan.2C_July_2006.svg http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#Help:_I_cant.27t_restore_original_File:LocationSouthernSudan.svg These situations are of particular significance, since it took only one user uploading once the wrong version of one file to start a edit war with a lot of users trying in good faith to revert it back to the original image. This is bond to happen again and again and again, and is wasting a lot of server space, since each time a file is reverted it is uploaded again to the servers. It's also forcing the files to be moved to new names in order to bypass that bug, creating unnecessary redirects and name replacements in the projects using those files, and making the file log quite hard to follow, since deleted revisions are left behind each time the file is moved. Please solve this bug as soon as you can, it is really damaging the project. However according to the webserver(?) they are still there. If I add a query string it gives a cache miss, but still shows the wrong image. After a couple of hours, around 8 PM, the 800px thumbnail was updated to reflect the changes, but anything else (the small thumbnails and the full-size image) is not. I uploaded the edited image three (3) times, with the newest thumb remaining the wrong version, as described by Erwin Dokter, above. I thought I was inadvertently uploading the unedited file, until I finally figured out that Wikipedia was screwed up. Since then, I've only uploaded modified images to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons once, and waited to see if the corrections would eventually show up in the article. A recent image, http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:SolderGun.jpg, took almost 48 hours to update the thumbnail on the image page and show the edited image in the Wikipedia article. Purging the thumbnail cache on Wikipedia/Wikimedia and clearing my browser cache has zero effect. Using a different browser has zero effect.
