Web browser: --- Bug #: 35697 Summary: Error message on login (and other pages) should be clear which error occured Product: MediaWiki Version: unspecified Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Unprioritized Component: General/Unknown AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: benap...@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Mobile Platform: --- Hi, I think it's a good time to make the error messages actually describe the error, rather than telling that some error occured. For example: when you fail in process of user login, you very often get the error "Cookies are disabled, bla bla" this is appearing almost due to any possible error no matter if it's related to cookies or not. For example when mediawiki can't connect to memcached, it produce this error on login page. Can we make error messages more clear or is there any policy that mediawiki shouldn't produce too much technical output, rather only simple "Error happened!" messages? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug.
