Web browser: --- Bug ID: 47979 Summary: [INTERLANG] Show language selector on missing article Product: MediaWiki extensions Version: master Hardware: All OS: All Status: NEW Severity: enhancement Priority: Unprioritized Component: UniversalLanguageSelector Assignee: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org Reporter: federicol...@tiscali.it CC: aloli...@gmail.com, amir.ahar...@mail.huji.ac.il, niklas.laxst...@gmail.com, pgi...@wikimedia.org, robinp.1...@gmail.com, run...@gmail.com, s.mazel...@xs4all.nl, santhosh.thottin...@gmail.com Classification: Unclassified Mobile Platform: --- With the ULS integrated into the language links, nothing is shown on non-existing pages. ULS should integrated with [[MediaWiki:Noarticletext]] and [[MediaWiki:Noarticletext-nopermission]] to offer the user the possibility to go to the article in another language (e.g. by opening itself by default at the bottom of the current text). In the first implementation, it would be enough to let the user select a language and then forward to that language with a normal search for the page title (as en.wiki already does for interproject/sisterproject links without a clear target). In future implementations, it would look for existing articles in other languages, either via Wikidata or Lucene (see existing code for bug 44420), and provide tailored suggestions, including invites to translation. Robin, do you remember more of the suggestions from the workshop <https://wikimania2011.wikimedia.org/wiki/Submissions/Workshop._Projects_in_languages_with_singular_status>? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
