https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18596 --- Comment #2 from cenarium.sy...@gmail.com 2009-04-27 13:17:21 UTC --- Good point, it could create cycles at evaluations. We could remove the else parameter and return nothing if the page is not in [[Category:Foo]]. We wouldn't loose much essential functionality. Although, to keep it maximal, the content in the else argument could also not be allowed to categorize at all. https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18599 --- Comment #2 from Bruno thecentercannoth...@yahoo.com 2009-04-27 13:20:14 UTC --- err... maybe I'm confused, but (a) wikimedia projects are already generally speaking localized (en.wikipedia, es.wiktionary...), and (b) each user can set their language localization in their preferences (which I'm assuming is stored in an easily accessible cookie, and probably defaults to the the encoding of the project they're working on). given that (and cribbing from the PHP manual at http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.sort.php): ?php setlocale( 'LC_ALL', $lang_code ); // $lang_code form a cookie or project, as above, possibly LC_COLLATE would be sufficient sort( $array_of_watchlist_article_names, SORT_LOCALE_STRNG ); // ...continue processing the list normally ? might be a few extra lines of housekeeping code needed, but otherwise why wouldn't something like this work? also, I think this behavior changed in PHP 6, so there might need to be code to account for that. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. The limit of 100 subpages was added so that moving a bunch of subpages could reasonably be done in one request, with immediate feedback (success/error). If subpage moves are done through the job queue, there's no way to inform the user when one of the moves fails (e.g. because the target page already exists or is protected). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 8130] Query pages should limit to content namespaces, not just main namespace
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8130 --- Comment #9 from Roan Kattouw roan.katt...@gmail.com 2009-04-27 13:32:00 UTC --- (In reply to comment #8) Created an attachment (id=6062) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6062) [details] Add/implement MWNamespace::getContentNamespaces(), patch for querypage-work branch Here's a new patch, written specifically for the querypage-work branch. Thanks, committed in r49951. The new function is now MWNamespace::getContentNamespaces(). I went ahead and added it to every query where I think it should be used. In the process, I took a stab at converting SpecialPopularPages over to the new syntax. Thanks; I thought I had converted all of them, but I seem to have missed that one somehow. In terms of efficiency, using getContentNamespaces() instead of just NS_MAIN shouldn't have any impact on wikipedia, because the two end up producing identical SQL. And as someone who uses a wiki where the content namespaces have been customized, I'd argue getContentNamespaces() needs to be used in all possible queries -- because otherwise the corresponding special page ends up being completely useless. If performance really is a limiting factors in some of these queries, it might make more sense to just drop the namespace condition completely (or at least drop it if the content namespaces have been customized). True. In all of the queries you modified, it looks like the WHERE clause for page_namespace is not indexed anyway, so whether it limits to one or more values doesn't matter. There are a couple of other minor fixes included in the patch that I came across while doing a quick test-run of the code; I left them in place because it seemed likely you'd want to make those fixes eventually. (Specifically, abstract-ing PageQueryPage, fixing a missing ' in SpecialDeadendpages) Good catch. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

I'll see about getting that updated. might fix a couple other things i'm seeing Note that the fix is in trunk (1.15alpha), but not in any release of 1.14; in fact, there is only one release of 1.14 (1.14.0) so far; I'll check with Tim whether it would be worthwhile do to a 1.14.1 bugfix release. Meanwhile, you can grab the current 1.14 branch (which is basically 1.14.0 with a bunch of bugfixes) from http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/branches/REL1_14 using SVN. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ Wikibugs-l mailing list Wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikibugs-l

We are not going to maintain list of codes for each language in each supported platform. To clarify: we'd need a one-to-one mapping from the languages that MediaWiki support to system locales. Such a one-to-one correspondence might not exist for all languages, and naming schemes for locales vary across systems, which makes creating and maintaining this mapping pretty much impossible. A more viable option would be to specify the sort order for each language in the language file; leaving it up to the i18n folks to decide whether this is desired. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug. [Bug 18609] New: Search index text is empty if page contains unmatched
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18609 Summary: Search index text is empty if page contains unmatched Product: MediaWiki Version: 1.15-svn Platform: All OS/Version: All Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: Normal Component: Search AssignedTo: wikibugs-l@lists.wikimedia.org ReportedBy: neph...@skyhighway.com Created an attachment (id=6067) -- (https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=6067) Fix broken regexp in SearchUpdate.php (patch to r49794) If an article contains a symbol and there is no subsequent symbol anywhere in the article, the si_text field for that article in the searchindex table ends up completely empty -- even the text in the article before the symbol is wiped out. It is therefore impossible to search on any of the article's contents. For example, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Mirror_Plan is currently triggering this bug; si_text is being set to ''. Although UESP is currently running MW1.10, the same bug occurs if the article is added to a test wiki running r49794. The basic problem is an incorrect pair of parentheses in a preg_replace expression in SearchUpdate.php::doUpdate(). The attached patch file removes those parentheses; I also did some secondary cleanup of the expression by deleting some redundant chunks ([A-Za-z0-9]*\\s* is all covered equally well by [^]*?, and the simpler expression doesn't mislead editors). The revised regexp successfully processes UESPWiki:Mirror_Plan, and also successfully processes some test pages containing html tags. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are the assignee for the bug.
