The title of this bug should be Annotation tool that uses Wikidata concepts to annotate statements from books. Thepund.it almost does that, but it is using dbpedia instead of Wikidata. In my opinion text annotations shouldn't be stored directly stored into Wikidata, but on another database. IIRC, the implementation of Extension:Annotator creates another table on MW to store the annotations there. My reason for not originally implementing Group-user is basically a personal philosophy, that I do not trust wiki communities (enwiki especially) to *actually* remember the point above. Logged in verses logged out is **not** the same as readers verses editors, and as such, I felt (and still feel) that this feature had *only* misuses, not legitimate uses. More consideration: HTMLCacheUpdate seems not only for pagelinks, and findVariantLink is applied on some, but not all, other links. IIRC what works includes pagelinks, templatelinks and categorylinks. We may want to decide whether to add a new argument to HTMLCacheUpdate indicating to include variant titles or not, or switch based on $table, or just change callers to issue multiple HTMLCacheUpdate calls when variant invalidation is needed. Note: about page creation and deletion, this is only needed for creation, as pagelinks table is already affected by findVariantLink's rewrite to use given title during parsing when that page exists. And we can efficiently get all pages that *have* a specific property. We can however not get all pages with a specific *value* for a given property. For that, we would need an index over at least pp_propname and pp_value, but this doesn't work, since pp_value is a blob. So allow this, we'd need an id column. I propose to add a column: `pp_value_id` varbinary(255) NOT NULL This may contain a hash of the value blob, or it may contain the actual value (with pp_value being the same, or empty, or null).
