So I did some simple checks, and on simple examples Blazegraph handles
cycles just fine. However, on more complex queries, the cycles seem to
be causing trouble. I don't know yet why, I'll look at it further,
probably next week.

So the problem is not "handling cycles" in general, it is handling some
specific data set, and most probably is a consequence of some bug. I'll
report when I have more data about what exactly triggers the bug.

Well previous to the comment above I remember the example links having url 
encoded json, the fact that this is no longer the case is a big win!
This makes handling JSON in the example links much much better!

As for the results, yes in most cases people can simply click the link 
(although not the case for POST stuff which covers the majority of the api 
modules)
I don't know if there is really a nice solution for that at this stage.

The key issue with if a graph contains cycles is that you can not then 
just assume that each successive generation of nodes obtained by adding 
another path step are by definition new nodes (as they would be for an 
acyclic graph -- well not entirely, because you might already have 
reached them by a shorter path; but nothing's going to seriously break 
with an acyclic graph if you get this check wrong).


In contrast, with a graph that contains cycles, you need to do some sort 
of hash join with what you have already seen, to specifically identify 
the new nodes.


If the query planner is somehow messing up those hash joins when given 
multiple interrelated path requirements, that could be a source of trouble.

Weeks ago I played around with the current set of patterns given in F180605: 
pattern.txt  and tried to create a 
parser that evaluates these regex patterns. This is the best I could come up 
with:

`/^(\(\?i\))?(([^\+*?[^\]$(){}|]|\\[dDsSwW\W]|\\u[\dA-F]{4}|\[[^\]]+\])([+*?]|\{\d+(,\d*)?\})?)+$/`

- Total number of patterns: 605
- Unique patterns: 384
- Only 6 of the existing patterns are compatible with `fnmatch`.
- 449 patterns pass my tester above and can be considered "very simple". They 
neither use any grouping (`(…)`) nor alternatives (`|`) nor problematic 
repetitions like `*?`.
- 156 patterns can be considered "complicated".
  - A few of them can be rewritten, e.g. `(S|)\d{4}` can be rewritten as 
`S?\d{4}`. But most of them can not, mostly because they use `(…)?` or `(…|)` 
or even `…|` (the outer "zero" group does not need round brackets) to mark a 
segment or the whole thing as alternative or optional. I'm not sure if this 
should be allowed because it opens the can of "catastrophic backtracking" worms.
  - When allowing simple grouping as in the patterns that match file name 
extensions (by adding `\(\w+(\|\w+)*\)` to the tester above) 35 additional 
patterns can be validated.
  - The most catastrophic fragment I found is `…( 
[A-Z][a-z]+(-([A-Z])?[a-z]+)*)*…`. These are three (!) nested repetitions. 
Backtracking gone insane. If we need proof that it was a good idea to disable 
the code that runs these regexes, this is it.

My tester above is a proof of concept. Instead of using a regex to evaluate 
regexes I would love to create a tiny parser in PHP.

`analytics/limn-language-data` runs `tox-flake8`, same as above but only 
executes `tox -eflake8`.

Should be as easy as adding `/tox.ini` files in all those repositories, then in 
`integration/config.git` `zuul/layout.yaml` copy paste:

  - name: analytics/limn- XXX REPO NAME XXX-data
test:
 - tox-jessie
gate-and-submit:
 - tox-jessie

That will invoke `tox` and whatever command have been defined in the repos.

Wikibase tests that depends on Scribunto are skipped whenever Scribunto is 
missing. That is the message being shown (//Scribunto is not available//).

@Ricordisamoa There is currently no good way to get the full edit history using 
the proper JSON serialization. We never implemented this, since it seemed that 
people are either interested in the metadata of the edit history (XML), or the 
current content (JSON). What's the use case of having both?  If you just need 
old snapshots, not the full history, you can use old JSON dumps.

Definitely. However, there is some infrastructural gap between loading a 
dump once in a while and providing a *live* query service. 
Unfortunately, there are no standard technologies that would routinely 
enable live updates of RDF stores, and Wikidata is rather low-tech when 
it comes to making its edits available to external tools. One could set 
up the code that is used to update query.wikidata.org (I am sure it's 
available somewhere), but it's still some extra work.

Going from the descriptions in data.yaml and @JanZerebecki's current groups we 
believed statistics-users was needed for the access to the host (stat1003) and 
researchers for access to the mysql db / account details.

some code that isn't in wmf3, so it'll be fixed on Wikipedias during Thursday's

One thing I really liked about Kasabi was that it had a simple interface
for people to enter queries and share them with people.  The "Information
Workbench" from fluidOps does something similar although I never seen it
open to the public.  A database of queries also is a great tool for testing
both the code and the documentation,  both of the reference and cookbook
kind.

I see no reason why one instance of Blazegraph is having all the fun.  With
a good RDF dump,  people should be loading Wikidata into all sorts of
triple stores and since Wikidata is not that terribly big at this time,
 "alternative" endpoints ought to be cheap and easy to run

Ok, cool, I'm cool with that, so:

`request_id` - UUID1 from Varnish, not necessarily unique for an individual 
event
`event_id` (or maybe just `uuid`? since that is what EL uses?) - Actual UUID 
for an event.
`dt` - IS08601 timestamp, usually derived from the timestamp in `event_id`

I've been thinking about it too. Ideally, we could leave these fields out of 
schema defs, simply reference them. But, that seems not to be in correlation 
with storing them in a git repo. What I see as a possible solution is to put 
these common fields into a separate file and let the producer proxy in front on 
kafka stick it into each schema def. It's somewhat ugly though (as in, less 
transparent). PR 5  puts them 
directly in each schema for now.
