 The table is almost 1TB on the master, and the master "only" has 1.1TB free on the master which makes it very high risky and almost impossible to run.

[Wikidata] Wikibase vs MediaWiki API

Hi Lucas,

Thanks for explaining the differences in the results of searches using
Wikibase API
and MediaWiki API (reference thread below).

I have been using the Wikidata-Toolkit to query Wikidata using the
*wbsearchentities

implementation.
Now, the documentation about MediaWiki Action API

seems to suggest that it is a web-service for accessing (wiki like)
databases .
I am currently interested in programatically querying Wikidata without
having to host a complete service and wondering if there are
easy to use MediaWiki API implementation (in Java) that I can use to
query Wikidata to fetch results corresponding to:

"action=query=search=SEARCHTERM=0|120

In other words, I want to know if there are libraries to achieve this
progamatically using Java.

RDF dumps confirm that data is coming fine through

This also happens for single-update items, which haven't been touched for a while, so it's not some kind of update race. Weird thing is it happens on multiple servers in the same way. E.g. check on Q3601865 reveals:

['wdq21', 'wdq22', 'wdq23', 'wdq24', 'wdq25', 'wdq26'] - are fine
['wdq6', 'wdq7', 'wdq8', 'wdq9', 'wdq10'] - are missing rank statements for Q36018657-1D11B168-9B90-44EF-88EE-4B8B09EE08A8 - all for the same statement ID!
['wdq5', 'wdq4', 'wdq3'] - are missing rank statements and P2860 statement for the same statement.

This does not look completely random data corruption - something is going on. CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTION**Problem:**
Currently when someone running a 3rd-party Wikibase instance sets up their own query service then the examples dialog still points to Wikidata's examples. They should be able to collect their own examples as these are highly dependent on the topic and existing properties/items in that particular installation.

**Acceptance criteria:**
[] A 3rd-party Wikibase instance can have their own page with query examples that populate the examples dialog in their query service.

I've been running this in a tmux session on a few of the wdqs servers:  while :; do DSTAMP=$(date); CW=$(sudo netstat -anet | grep 208.80.154.224 | grep -c CLOSE_WAIT); echo "${DSTAMP}: ${CW}"; sleep 1; done >> ~/close_waits.txt.  (154.224 is the edge for the text cache cluster.)

It's a very small sample at this point, but there are a few things that make me think that this is the issue, or one of the issues:

wdqs1006 had three errors thrown at 2018-12-03T20:09:56.  This is the close_wait count around that time:

This renders in wikitext poorly. :-) Instead, we'd want:

We already have the git-commit-id plugin configured, which creates a properties file and adds it to the jars. So we should be able to load it and output whatever we need. @BBlack @ema Couple of questions for you about Nginx:


Do we have nginx configured to handle a specific number of requests on a given worker process/thread, and then shut that down?
If it possible for nginx to be restarted (interrupting existing persistent connections) due to config updates or the like, and if so, is there a record of times when that has happened?


What I'm poking at is the issue described here: https://williamsbdev.com/posts/no-http-response-exceptions/.

The Wikidata updater process has a pool of connections to the text cache nodes, eg

The implication of the article linked above is that if the process that represents the remote side of these connections were to shut down while the connection itself is idle, it's possible that the socket would enter a CLOSE_WAIT state on the local side, and that in turn would result in the NoHttpResponseException that we're seeing in this case.

The problem is that if the DB does not have this revision, it can't be retrieved...

We could also specify a specific rev id to be retrieved as you have that info?

I don't want to get the specific one, I want to get the latest one. TASK DESCRIPTIONAs recently discovered in T210953, integration of Wikibase into MediaWiki user restriction mechanism has not been tested appropriately.

As blocking users is the common way how Wikidata community deal's with misbehaving actors, it is rather critical to ensure this functionality is not broken with code changes to both Wikibase software, and also to MediaWiki itself.

Ensuring this does not happen would be possible by creating a set of tests performing edits using the blocked user account, and verifying that the action is not allowed (as expected).

Note: this should cover both editing of the entity page using the UI, but also edits performed using Wikibase API. Due to different nature of the APIs, those could probably be tracked as separate tasks.

Looking at the job it says:

I wonder if there's any way to ensure we get the freshest RDF and not stale information from Wikidata.

we could add another param to ensure the latest is retrieved?
How often does this happen?
It might be better to only "ensure" the latest is retrieved if it has already failed once? This could possibly be done inside wdqs?
We could also specify a specific rev id to be retrieved as you have that info?

[Wikidata] In case of creation of an item without an equivalent page in Wikipedia

Hello,

I am aligning Wikipedia with PRELIB, a database about litterature in 
breton, on Mix'n'Match 
. The alignment 
concerns people for now. Some don't already have a page in Wikipedia. 
But if someone creates for instance a page in Wikipedia in french about 
Yann Rumengol , will there be 
duplicates items ? One item associated to the new Wikipedia page in 
french and the item I previously created from Mix'n'Match ?

No more errors in Logstash since the 29th, when Wikidata went back on wmf.6 (after some unrelated issues). Checking constraints on Q2518823 works now (and the item still features a value for a deleted item).
