I also once had some discussions with calling site links identifiers. This makes the data model less wikipedia specific while doing what is discussed above. The alternative could be get rid of sitelinks, do sitelinks and identifiers in claims and implement either option 2 or 3 for them! After a few back and forth, We're pretty sure the cause of the outage was due to the changes in the jobchron service on the jobrunners that were released on saturday via https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/208408/ when I correctly restarted the jobchron service (which is not named at all on the jobrunners deploy page on wikitech) after reverting that change the contentions on redis disappeared. We earlier tracked the problem to redis maxing out 1 CPU, while blocked in the lua interpreter, which is probably single-threaded. jeblad added a comment. The names should not be associated with use in processes on any specific project, it should be concrete for client side technical use in Wikibase. If anyone wants a "this page is in a deletion process on Wikipedia so don't do like so and so on Wikidata", then that should be implemented through some kind of low level primitives, but not by implicit encoding in the primitives themselves. If we encode high level signals in low level primitives then we start to tie Wikipedia into Wikibase, and I don't think that would be wise. Imagine the problems that would arise from propagating different Wikipedias notability criteria to Wikidata through a single primitive. Not even the two Norwegian Wikipedias use the same notability criteria. The behavior switch __EXPECT_UNCONNECTED_PAGE__ would be a marker used by the SQL query for the special page UnconnectedPages, and would not imply any on-going process, or lack of any such process, on Wikidata. It is a purely client side behavior switch for the special page. It's most obvious to observe if you update a whole bunch of labels and aliases and you press save. You can see this in https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q2825156&action=history . I did all my edits and pressed save. The first part is saved 11:42, 3 May 2015 and the last one 11:44, 3 May 2015 so this took over one minute to complete! I also notice that my bots appear to be editing slower than usual.
