There is absolutely no way for an editor to understand why 1990 12 31 would result in 8 July 1990 and tomorrow in 9 July 1990. If it is intended to not support space-separated input it should result in a malformed input message. I'm not totally sure but I think this confusing behavior was re-introduced recently. thiemowmde added a comment. I'm not sure what you mean when you say something is wrong with a test. This is an intended feature. At least intended by the PHP developers. We do not want this. I would love to disable this feature but couldn't find a way to do this. I do see these solutions: 1. Either add support for space separated dates to PhpDateTimeParser, or create a dedicated parser for such dates. 2. Add more checks to PhpDateTimeParser to detect magic assume current day or month cases and make the parsing fail if that happens. As said I would love to do this. I already did that for cases where PHP's parser messes with the year. 3. Do not use PHP's parsing at all. This means we must re-implement the whole thing, excluding the single feature we do not want. I honestly do not think this is worth our time. I think I already wrote this in other tickets. However, glob doesn't have a way to define a fixed number of repetitions, so four digits would have to be written as [0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9]. Also, the common * and ? wildcards are not very useful for the use case at hand. TASK DESCRIPTION Pattern constraints are based on regular expressions. Evaluating user supplied regular expressions on the server is however a potential DoS vector, since it is easy to write malicious expressions that would use a lot of CPU and RAM when evaluated, typically by causing //catastrophic backtracking//. Furthermore, care must be taken to prevent PHP code injection via the /e flag. For this reason, pattern constraints are currently disabled. This ticket calls for an investigation and implementation that would allow pattern constraints to be applied safely. This may be done by sufficiently sandboxing PCRE evaluation, or by moving to a different language for patterns (e.g. an extended version of glob, or a restricted form of regular expressions). Note that for the use case at hand, namely, validating external identifiers, the full power of regular expressions is not needed. A simpler subset that is restricted to greedy possessive matches (that is, no backtracking) may be sufficient. However, this means some expressions will fail to evaluate on some input. There is no way to indicate this to the user who created the pattern. Also, it may be tricky to detect evaluation failures, and it's unclear how to surface them if they are detected. A messages Precision higher than DAY is not yet supported is shown. Since we are now supporting higher precision we are running into that issue. I think we should find a way to solve it at least for that special case. Infact this exact behaviour is documented at the top of the class... - Time parser using PHP's DateTime object. On most wikis this has no notable impact on load time as it runs in parallel with other requests (such as the list=recentchanges query). But on Wikidata this thing takes well over 10 seconds to load. I suspect this is because of all the OAuth CID: ## entries. Basically the same banner image is being used by the old banner template on Wikivoyage Asia and the test page with the proposed banner template. One is blurry and the other is not.
