Thus, the proposal is to temporarily drop adding IRI to the RDF output, and re-add then when proper unit support has been developed. Unfortunately, Wikimedia language codes do not always match what the rest of the world is using, so there is some translation needed. - Clarification: Wikimedia language tags. The official structure of language tags that everybody is using is defined in BCP 47 (http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/bcp/bcp47.txt). I know of two places that define known tags: - The language tag registry of IANA: http://www.iana.org/assignments/language-subtag-registry/language-subtag-registry - ISO639-3: http://www-01.sil.org/iso639-3/codes.asp I don’t know if IANA and ISO agree in all cases, IANA seems to be updated regularly. Wikimedia uses similar tags but sometimes not with the IANA/ISO meanings. The main exceptions are documented here: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special_language_codes . Some are critical there (e.g., Wikimedia uses “als” to encode Allemanisch, but ISOIANA use this code for Tosk Albanian). Nevertheless, the Meta page on language exceptions might not always give the best choice. For example, Wikimedia’s “cbk-zam” does not exist in the registries, but BCP 47 has a mechanism for extending existing this case: this would suggest the use of cbk-x-zam. The Meta page suggests to use cbk instead, which would mean that the “zam” information is forgotten. This is maybe not a big problem since Wikimedia uses no other language variant of cbk, but it is a problem for things like “de-formal” and “nl-informal”. The languages could be encoded as “de-x-informal” and “nl-x-informal”. Encoding them as “de” and “nl” would make the data indistinguishable in RDF. Wikidata Toolkit has a replacement table for Wikimedia language codes that compiles some of my insights there: https://github.com/Wikidata/Wikidata-Toolkit/blob/master/wdtk-datamodel/src/main/java/org/wikidata/wdtk/datamodel/interfaces/WikimediaLanguageCodes.java (I don’t claim that this is fully current though). A better approach would be to encode only the exceptions. According to https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML/Element/Img the srcset attribute is only supported by fairly recent versions of most browsers, other than IE where it apparently isn't supported at all. For example, there're 1000 items redirected to item A and 1000 items redirected to item B. If we merge item A and item B, we must at least fix 1000 pages. Also redirects are automatically fixed by bots. It's however useful to increase $wgMaxRedirects in case double redirects break other services (wbgetentities, usage tracking, RDF dump, ...) thiemowmde lowered the priority of this task from Unbreak Now! to Normal. thiemowmde added a comment. I finally found that //Precision higher than DAY is not yet supported// message. It was removed in DataValuesJavascript 0.7.0, see https://github.com/wmde/DataValuesJavascript/pull/61/files#diff-9ca1bbb25175b5b6e638f4ab3f983931L543. We still have PHP code that blocks precisions higher than DAY in ValidatorBuilders::buildTimeValidators, which is not executed on parsing and formatting but only on validation after clicking save. The relevant ticket for this is T104330: ParseValue API module should optionally trigger validation https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T104330. What this means: - Technically, we always supported precisions higher than DAY in the relevant wbparsevalue API module. - Now that the frontend JavaScript parser is finally gone and replaced with the backend PHP parser, this partial support became visible to the users. - But this is only an UI issue during preview. We are not actually //accepting// precisions higher than DAY. The validator does not allow saving any of the examples above. I still suggest to go the way I laid out above: 1. Add more fail-safe code to PhpDateTimeParser. For example: In a string that matches the regex `/^\w+\W+\w+\W+\w+$/` the resulting precision **must** be DAY and nothing else. This would also block stuff like 2015-01+9month https://www.wikidata.org/w/api.php?action=wbparsevalueformat=jsonparser=timevalues=2015-01%2B9month. 2. Try to add support for space separated dates to PhpDateTimeParser, if possible. 3. Create a dedicated YearMonthDayParser. Note that we already have Year and YearMonth parsers, but no general YMD parser that also supports D.M.Y, M/D/Y and so on. All this is currently passed to PHP's toxic parser. The proposed YMD parser could still use PHP's parser, but would be much more restricted. It could use `DateTime::createFromFormat` with a list of formats we want to support. 4. In all of these the property label is unlinked. Linking the labels to the property pages would make understanding changes and navigating somewhat easier.
