@daniel Your input on this would be much appreciated. A more generic question is whether it's possible to detect what exactly was changed in the wikidata item from the RevisionInsertComplete hook? If there was a way, we could consider moving that detection to the #eventbus extension and implement the fragments solution described in T148079

So we somehow need to apply the prefetching capabilities of a TermBuffer to a multi-repo scenario. In particular, prefetchTerms() needs to partition the list of EntityIds by repo, and then forward each list to an underlying, per-repo TermBuffer.

Implementation:

Make a dispatching TermBuffer. It can be based on EntityTermLookupBase, just like BufferingTermLookup. When forwarding prefetchTerms(), the list of EntityIds is partitioned by repo. The dispatching TermBuffer does not need to implement caching.

The dispatching TermBuffer would get a list of TermBuffer (by repo), and a list of TermLookups (per repo). Alternatively, it takes a single list of objects that are each required to implement both these interfaces (Assert::prameterElementType could be expanded to support Foo+Bar as a notation for checking this). We could also make a combined interface, TermLooklupAndBuffer or something.

Caching will continue to be done by per-repo instances of BufferingTermLookup. I don't get the point of scrolling either.  Pages are getting annoyingly long and frequently I add statements that I know aren't there because query.wikidata.org  found the items.

In general, I think we urgently need more compact views: depending on the purpose, frequently entire groups of statements are irrelevant for the task at hand and could easily be collapsed or replaced a simple count. this is on very early stage still. Basically I created this ticket as a ticket for https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/315904/
But that patch is still a very work--in-progress. And apart from the general approach being far from clear, there are only three dispatching services prepared so far. So I have a second proposal now which is slightly more complex than the initial single table design.
