TASK DESCRIPTIONThe discussion in the Russian Wikipedia is one of the users who are not very familiar with Wikidata, arguing that it's not possible to enter a URL as a source, only element. As it turned out, he used to enter the field with the wrong data type. Most likely, this is not an isolated case, and need a way to indicate the type of data (or data input format) for field with which the user is working. I suggest using the same method as that already used in the VisualEditor, as it is familiar to users. At the beginning of each field to add the appropriate icon type. In the example I used the icon from the VisualEditor, but it is likely to be slightly reduced. daniel added a comment. Yes, let's please be very clear about files vs pages. This is a findamental disctinction both for MediaWiki internally, as well as for Commons editors. This distinction makes little sense to casual visitors, and perhaps should go away on the technical side at some point, but we are quite far from that. For now, when discussing this with developers and editors, we have to be very clear about whether we mean files or pages. So. geo-shapes and tabular data on commons are pages. They have a content-model, but no mime type. Their page title does have an "extension", like files do, which determines the content-model (because the extension that defines the content model says so). TASK DESCRIPTIONWhen entering a value for a statement, you can sometimes press enter to select the top result and save, other times you have to explicitly select the top result manually. As far as I can tell from testing it, it only works if the text is a case insensitive exact match for the label of the top result. This seems oddly specific and makes it feel inconsistent because it's not immediately obvious why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. For example, in English, entering "bay" and pressing enter will select the top result and save the statement even though there's lots of things with the same label and the top result is unlikely to be the item you want, whereas entering "US" and pressing enter will not do anything even though it's an exact match to one of the item's aliases and almost certainly is the item you want. If your search only gives one result (e.g. "Saaa"), you still have to explicitly select it before you can save.
