Certain constraints, like “symmetric” and “inverse”, cannot be satisfied in a single edit. We also use WDQS for several constraint checks, where we don’t have any way of specifying former revision IDs. It sounds like a performance nightmare. We would be sending 50 wbcheckconstraints requests simultaneously every time someone looked at a history page, recent changes, or a user’s contributions. In the case of a history page, all those requests would be for the same entity, which could be a very large one (an uncached constraint check on Q42 currently takes some twelve seconds). And all of these results would either have to be cached separately, or bypass the cache. I tried it out briefly, and there didn’t seem to be any errors in the console. So I think the worst case if we don’t address this issue is editors seeing constraint violation reports on old versions of violating statements that don’t actually violate the constraint in the version being shown. This is confusing, but probably not terrible. Mapping (and mingling) of those domains is currently done by code in LabelField and TermSqlIndex, and more problematically, in the schemas of the data stores updated by that code, namely the wb_terms table and the Elastic index (see LabelsProviderFieldDefinitions and EntitySearchElastic). Nice, making importDump.php read from standard input seem to work: bzcat wikidatawiki-20180101-pages-articles19.xml-p19072452p19140743.bz2 | mwscript importDump.php --wiki=wikidatawiki --uploads --debug --report 1 although lots of errors like the one below are thrown: Revision 32073113 using content model wikitext cannot be stored on "Translations:Wikidata:Glossary/23/sr" on this wiki, since that model is not supported on that page. Now trying to import the whole Wikidata dump: as a side note, the script got stuck for almost 2 days on wikidatawiki-20180101-pages-articles27.xml-p37586178p39086178.bz2. Killed the import of that file, import resumed on another one.
