From what I can see it was not only related to that table and to that write, there are lots of others, but the INSERT INTO revision_comment_temp (revcomment_rev,revcomment_comment_id) VALUES ('xx','x') appears quite a lot. Would be nice to know where the other leg of that lock is. In order to enable for MCR support, all references to these fields have to be removed from the code. They should be replaced with RevisionStore::getQueryInfo(), RevisionStore::newRevisionRecordFromRow(), and RevisionRecord::getContent(). As a corollary, all references to text.old_id should be removed as well. KaMan added a comment. I believe that effect comes from the fact that items in suggester list are links. Somehow on chrome hook on these links is ommited and normal page reload happens.
