This sounds more like something for labels and not for monolingual values,
although I wonder whether it's really necessary to define a whole language for
this.

  > In elections, Americans will mention voting blocs

There are two English Wikipedia articles, and two corresponding Wikidata
items. It's not a thing for which I'd define a different language.

"organisation", or "colour".

Sure, but none of these are specific examples of something that can't be done
on Wikidata or another Wikimedia project at the moment without defining a new
language.

To be clear, I'm not opposed to adding it in principle, but it is relevant to
understand what is this useful for //exactly//.

If MediaWiki messages can be different in a way that can't be covered by en
(or en-gb), then we can have it as a user interface language similarly to
en-gb, en-ca, etc., and if I'm not mistaken, this will automatically apply also
to monolingual codes.

If different MediaWiki messages are not necessary, but monolingual values
are, that's fine, but I'd like to see specific examples.

  Hoi,
No problems with Indian English, we also support Australian English. I can
imagine that there are differences in Indian English but that takes nothing

  Happens in HtmlPageLinkRendererEndHookHandler

I guess. Not sure if there’s a convenient place to similarly add the
`wikibase.common` styles whenever an entity ID is rendered.

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T267502: Language fallback indicators sometimes still shown for variant fallbacks

2020-11-08 Thread Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE
Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE created this task.
Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE added a project: Wikidata.
Restricted Application added a subscriber: Aklapper.

TASK DESCRIPTION
As a Wikidata editor, I don’t want to see language fallback indicators if the
fallback is just within language variants, e. g. from British or Canadian
English (`en-gb`, `en-ca`) to “English” (`en`).

  **Problem:**
While this generally works (implemented in T174318: Don’t display language
fallback indicators for variant fallbacks
), language fallback indicators are
still sometimes shown. This happens whenever an item is rendered with its label
but the main Wikibase stylesheets aren’t loaded (since the hiding of the
indicators is implemented in those stylesheets), such as on diff pages (in
diff-only mode, i. e. not showing the page below the diff) and on undo pages.

  **Example:**

  -
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?diff=1207519515=1177335039=en-gb=yes
  -
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q4115189=edit=1303834499=en-gb

Note that in the diff case, the presence of item links in the edit summaries
seems to be sufficient to “summon” the relevant CSS, so that the indicators are
hidden in
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?diff=1207519515=en-gb=yes.

  **Screenshots/mockups:**

- Wikidata.png F33058877:

@Addshore It's easiest if there are 2 separate deploy repos and both also do
not live inside each other. 2 repos that git clone into 2 separate directories
both under /srv/org/wikidata but on the same hierarchy level. Then the

The previous comments don't explain who or what (task?) exactly this task is
stalled on ("If a report is waiting for further input (e.g. from its reporter

). Hence
resetting task status, as tasks should not be stalled (and then potentially
forgotten) for years for unclear reasons.

If this task is stalled on an upstream project, then the #upstream

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] T210164: Currency converter as query service

2020-11-08 Thread Aklapper
Aklapper changed the task status from "Stalled" to "Open".
Aklapper added a comment.

The previous comments don't explain who or what (task?) exactly this task is
stalled on ("If a report is waiting for further input (e.g. from its reporter
or a third party) and can currently not be acted on"
). Hence
resetting task status, as tasks should not be stalled (and then potentially
forgotten) for years for unclear reasons.

//(Smallprint, as general orientation for task management:
If you wanted to express that nobody is currently working on this task, then
the assignee should be removed and/or priority could be lowered instead.
If work on this task is blocked by another task, then that other task should
be added via Edit Related Tasks... > Edit Subtasks.
If this task is stalled on an upstream project, then the #upstream
 tag should be added.
If this task requires info from the task reporter, then there should be
instructions which info is needed.
If this task needs retesting, then the #testme
 tag should be added.
If this task is out of scope and nobody should ever work on this, or nobody
else managed to reproduce the situation described here, then it should have the
"Declined" status.
If the task is valid but should not appear on some team's workboard, then the
team project tag should be removed while the task has another active project
tag.)//

  @Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE / @Lydia_Pintscher : 27 months later, has that
happened in the meantime maybe?
If not, what are the IDs of tasks tracking that store model migration that
this task should depend on?
