  but please take into your considerations that the distributions are somewhat 
misleading since 368,410 (out of 383,045 in total) editors considered have 
never made a single edit in any talk namespace on Wikidata.
  
  In fact, revisions in talk namespaces matter a lot in respect to whether the 
editor is found to be active or not now:

  If we're able to answer "no", I think we'd go with that.
  
  Of course, the style of the article content within the apps comes via CSS 
that Product Infrastructure includes - that is out of our hands. What we're 
talking about is the non-article chrome of the apps.
  
  The chrome of the apps have colors defined in the files linked above. Since 
the apps can't use CSS/JSON color schemes on their own, it seems like 
unnecessary overhead to have a script that converts design tokens to a format 
the apps can use - when instead we can keep those files up to date in the rare 
times they change.
  
  (I'm unaware of historically difficulties keeping them up to date, but also 
I'm fairly new to Wikimedia. If there are some historical reasons we don't 
think the manual option is a good choice, we're happy to discuss.)

  Quick comment that's probably obvious, but from a developer standpoint, one 
thing I would prioritize is ease of use/visibility during development. Two 
concerns:
  
  - In MediaWiki extensions, we use a pretty manual process to include and 
update Wikimedia UI base, which must be set up per-extension
  - In WVUI (and any codebase that properly uses Wikimedia UI base as an npm 
module), it's easy to include and update the library, but difficult to view it. 
I have to open up the variable sheet elsewhere, or dig into node_modules

  With much appreciated help from @Ottomata , we got to see some events using 
kafkacat on deployment-kafka-jumbo-2 now. To check whether the events are 
correctly generated, this seems sufficient.
  One thing which got done on the way is including the config of these streams 
from this patch

  We could have an exchange on our individual teams' experiences with component 
specification. It would be interesting to hear from WMF:

the file offers (can they always find the values they are looking for)? And how 
do they expect for variables to be modified, added or removed? Is the source 
code a suitable source of spec values, or would they appreciate some sort of 
preview?

  - I have used a fresh dataset, relying on the `2021-06` snapshot of the 
`wmf.mediawiki_history table`;
  - the results are fully replicated (in qualitative sense, of course);
  - I have also filtered out all editors who have less than six (6) months of 
presence in Wikidata, simply because they never really had a chance to leave 
(where "left Wikidata" is defined as five (5) months of inactivity).
  
  **The Lindy Effect**
  
  I have used several different operational definitions of the "length of past 
activity" to illustrate the Lindy Effect in Wikidata editing.
  
  **A. The total number of active months in editor's revision history**
  
  So, and editor can be active and inactive now and than; this measure of 
"length of past activity" is defined as the count of months in which and editor 
was active given the whole course of their presence in Wikidata since 
registration.
  The vertical axis represents the probability to leave Wikidata given the 
count of active months.

  **B. The probability of an active month**
  
  The previous measure could be criticized on the grounds that it is not the 
same if (a) someone has ten active months while being registered a year ago and 
if (b) someone has ten active months while being registered three years ago. I 
have turned the absolute counts of active months per editor into proportions of 
their total stay in Wikidata since registration (effectively calculating the 
probability of any given month in the editor's revision history being an active 
month). 
  The horizontal axis is the probability to have an active month in course of 
one's revision history, binned into 100 intervals. The vertical axis represents 
the probability to leave Wikidata given the count of active months.

  **C. The age of the account**
  This is simple yet probably inconclusive in respect to the Lindy Effect 
itself: how old is their account vs what is the probability that they have left 
Wikidata (i.e. are now inactive for five months at least)?

  - What work has been done to ensure the best possible performance of the

- We made sure to use lowest possible number of dependencies to avoid 
bloating the final payload and supply chain attacks. Both production and dev 
dependencies. The current package lock file is 14K lines, compared to for 
example MobileFrontend extension with package lock file of 22K lines
- We investigated to find performance issues and fixed those. For example

of css by factor of ten.
- The current payload is extremely small considering its functionalities 
and features (date selection, complex relations between conditions, different 
data types, selectors of items, etc.)
- Since it's fully outside of MediaWiki, it can't cause disruptions or 
become a DDoS vector.
- API queries being made on behalf of this app to Wikidata (to search for 
example) are debounced and throttled.
- We built several monitoring tools to make sure it's working properly

- We don't have ongoing measurement of javascript performance so it might

bloated, query builder will follow but wikit is in our control so we can work 
on it if any issue arises.
  - Are there potential optimisations that haven't been performed yet?
- Not that I know of, we could maybe squeeze a bit more out of its 
dependencies and make sure we compile to ES6 to avoid extra code but that would 
be it.

  That is in WikibaseMediaInfo and I had added Wikidata/WMDE to the task due to 
the Wikibase prefix.  It seems the extension is instead maintained by the

`rdf-streaming-updater` is the sole one having this value not under `main_app`.

same image (jobmanager and taskmanager). I'll adapt the chart to follow the

what I want, e.g. if I wanted to deploy 2 at once:

  - chart: other-streaming-app
  
  or none if I simply drop the promote tag.

reason for the clicks and registrations not to be clicked :-(
