  It might sound stupid and you probably know this already and I'm really sorry 
for repeating something you know already but in your localhost, no job is being 
ran unless you run runJobs.php. Right?
  
  If you have some systems in docker to run jobs, you can just spawn multiple 
runJobs.php. They should be able to work in parallel.

  For `PT:commonsMedia` and `PT:geo-shape` we seem to have the 
`validator-factory-callback` defined in WikibaseRepo.datatypes.php 

 in a way that talks directly to Wikimedia Commons production.
  
  However, this functionality is apparently untested, as briefly investigated 
in https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/Wikibase/+/709776.
  
  This functionality should get end-to-end tests, either via browser tests or 
via api tests. This must be done in a way that the test does not fail if it is 
run without connection to the internet or with Commons unavailable. For example 
like it was done in 
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/Wikibase/+/710069
  
  **Acceptance criteria**
  
  [ ] There are end-to-end tests for the validation of commonsMedia and 
geo-shape values
[ ] These tests don't fail if Wikimedia Commons is not reachable
  
  **Notes**
  
  - We should reconsider hard-coding the Commons production URL in 
https://github.com/wikimedia/Wikibase/blob/a164e6a616dcb9d197165cddc85fbddbef197b3e/repo/includes/CachingCommonsMediaFileNameLookup.php#L66
 and similar places. At least for test.wikidata.org I would expect it to talk 
to commons-test.wikimedia.org not the production servers.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  The Wikidata Query UI is currently built using a rather dated pipeline of 
Grunt tasks, including now-unmaintained ones like grunt-usemin. (See T274626: 
wikidata-query-gui build tooling uses outdated packages (via grunt) 
 for some details.) We should port 
it to some modern build system, such as Webpack or (more likely, in light of 
recent tasks like T276366 ) Rollup.
  
  To keep the scope of this task down, we should try to do this with as little 
changes to the code as possible. In other words, this is //not// the task for 
abandoning jQuery, using async/await, or other sweeping modernizations. Let’s 
start with the build system only.
  
  It would be nice if one result of this was a version of the code that we can 
publish to npm with little extra effort (basically, include lib-level code in 
`wikibase/queryService/`, while excluding application-level code like 
`wikibase/init.js`); however, since the current build system has nothing like 
this either (compare T267836 ), I 
don’t think this should be a hard requirement.

  I just want to note my experience running sparql.uniprot.org. Which is 
currently about 10 times the size of wikidata in number of triples.  An old but 
still applicable slide set/video is 
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSfeYdHfCGQ. We also have very large literals 
that would require blobs in most relational databases.
  
  Specifically regarding the feature list: most of these should be implemented 
in a custom front end. Which is what we do and is something we have started to 
open source and contribute to RDF4J an eclipse project as new spring-boot 
module.
  
  We implement readonly users for the sparql endpoint (plus double query 
parsing, again with RDF4J) so that only read sparql queries can be submitted. 
If that was broken we would still have the user permissions to protect the 
store (defence in depth).
  Dynamic runtime query time limit: is configurable and can be turned off. 
  We have it on but on a much higher allowances than the current WQS settings. 
  We also have a simple abuse protection based on IP and queries per second 
again in the middle.
  Extension can be done in the middle (servlet) (e.g. by query rewriting) or in 
virtuoso with custom functions.
  The front end can do proper http caching support that can be written to 
understand when the store actually changes.
  
  Our solution for clustering is just have more copies of the whole database.

  I think adding a job runner to the docker setup, either in 
`docker-compose.extra.yml` or even in `docker-compose.yml`, would be good, 
yeah. I briefly looked into it but couldn’t figure out how to attach the 
MediaWiki/Wikibase config (`LocalSettings.php`) to another container, since the 
file is generated on-demand.

  @Manuel is this in any way related to this request ?  While general questions 
can be interesting, they tend be not easily solved in wikis. T51024 
 (from 2013) might have waited for 
that too.
  
  If the question is just about invalid labels: once new additions are stopped 
with the feature, bots should eventually clean it up.
  
  Given that Wikipedia hasn't really figured out how to update language codes 
they are using, we need to address this for labels at Wikidata anyways.

TASK DESCRIPTION
  In the context Google Summer of Code 2021 (GSoC '21), the webdriver.io 
dependencies were updated to wdio v7, including the dependency in 
`wdio-wikibase`, see wdio-wikibase#38 
 and T274579: Upgrade 
WebdriverIO to the latest version 7 for all repositories 
.
  
  For this to actually be used, we still need to make a new minor(?) release of 
wdio-wikibase and update this dependency everywhere it is used.

  We ultimately went for a different approach to the one outlined in the task 
description. The problem we didn't immediately see was that in order for this 
approach to work, Wikit's consuming applications would need to add a wrapping 
`.wikit` element anywhere its components are used. See also this comment 
 from the PR linked in 
the comment above.
  
  This is how we ended up solving this instead:
  
  - We added a `wikit` class to all components' root elements which we enforced 
by an eslint rule (PR ).
  - Style scoping was achieved by changing selectors apply to any `.wikit` 
elements or elements within `.wikit` elements, e.g. `.hello { color: #f00 }` 
would be transformed to `.hello.wikit, .wikit .hello { color: #f00 }`. We 
implemented this as a custom postcss plugin 

 (PR ).

  The endpoint is `/api/mismatches`, and I'm a little surprised, it is noct 
specified in the task. :-) However, we do of course have an API spec here

 If you believe that we should host such a snazzy visualisation of the API spec 
ourselves, as part of th Mismatch Finder documentation, then we should create a

TASK DESCRIPTION

  Current Wikidata's layout is too scattered, hence it's hard to edit/read. We 
need more compact UI.
  
  **Suggestion** (describe the actual underlying problem which you want to 
solve, and not only a solution):
  Add "User:Jon_Harald_Saby/compact_items.css" to Wikidata's default CSS .
