  Yep - agreed. I think if other teams are going for Cypress, we already have 
Cypress tests, we're all familiar with Cypress, and it's an active project with 
a large user base, we can't go too far wrong here.

  @ArthurTaylor and I talked about this task this morning, and given that we 
recently decided for Cypress in EntitySchema (T331732 
) and don’t see any reason to decide 
differently here, we think that we should also pick Cypress in WikibaseLexeme 
and other codebases maintained by us.

 (Cypress setup for EntitySchema) 
seems to have gone fairly well.

  Apparently both approaches are equally compatible, given that we have

  Anecdotally, our newest developer, Arthur, is familiar with Cypress and not 
with WebdriverIO; given their general usage statistics (Cypress seems to be 
more popular than wdio), I think we can expect this to be likely for future 
hires as well.
  
  Unrelatedly, I also learned today that #wmde-techwish 
 are migrating Cite to 
Cypress: T353436 ; notably, in 
contrast to our own experience in T331732#8703102 
, they report that Cypress 
seems to run much //faster// in CI.

  Last seen in production on `2023-11-11 21:05:24.503994` (and twice before on 
that day, no further occurrences on mwlog1002).
  
  All these three cases were API requests (by the same user) done via 
`Special:ApiSandbox` using the following parameters (queried from Hive's 
event.mediawiki_api_request 

 table):

  The deeper reason behind most of this mess is the probably the uniqueness of 
the `test` release. There is no other environment where we have a `test` 
release currently and thus some of the assumptions made elsewhere to provide 
functionality don't apply to it. Service mesh support as well as the DNS 
records are such exceptions and the difference in configuration to reflect the 
above is a consequence.
  
  My gut feeling, probably supported by some stuff this task, says that the 
high level end-result is wasted effort every time some actions need to be taken 
that (even tangentially) affect termbox. Either in T334064 
 or in this task, special 
consideration needed/needs to happen to accommodate for the `test` release. 
Some of these thoughts were also captured (or at least alluded to) in T226814 
 when the test release was 
introduced, albeit not so clearly stated (and the situation has changed 
considerably since 2019)

  Okay. So since the code currently throws an exception in these cases, and the 
exception is presented to the users in the document response, it seems that 
catching that in the library and throwing a more specific exception is not a 
product-relevant change. Let's tidy up how the library handles invalid input, 
make the exceptions regular, then file another bug for the `wbformatvalue` 
action to process the exceptions in a more friendly way.
  
  Per comment from in tech grooming @Lucas_Werkmeister_WMDE , we probably need 
to introduce the new exception class in the DataValues top-level library, and 
then throw it from the specific module (e.g. GeoValues).

  This is still an issue, I have to press a series of buttons that's not easy 
to remember and reach. As above I have to press FN-OPTION-RETURN, there is no 
visual indication for this.
