This should be easier to implement, I suppose. It would be much better than doing nothing, and it could be a first step towards the complete solution. That doesn't work on Incubator because there would be multiple pages, and for the proper use of interwiki links it is also necessary to have it clear which language the page is in. What's wrong in the "Other languages" label? Let's be honest. We all know that the "proper" solution will never be implemented. Candalua added a comment. In T54971#3060738, @Lydia_Pintscher wrote: That a given wiki only has one page about a given topic. Regarding Mul Wikisource, this assumption is still intact: every page represents a different edition of some text. You can have a page with the translation of Hamlet in Hindi, and another page with the translation in Neapolitan. But they are still different "topics". Otherwise, if you consider them to be instances of the same "topic" i.e. the work Hamlet, then your assumption fails for all Wikisource projects... en.wikisource can host different editions of Hamlet, and fr.wikisource can have multiple translations, and this is not at all a problem. On Incubator and BetaVersity, if you want to keep your assumption working, just create a disambiguation page which will be the "one" page about the topic; and from there you have links to different pages according to the language. Of course this is not perfect, but at least these projects will finally get a usable Wikidata access, and it will be much better than to keep ignoring them forever.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T54971EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: CandaluaCc: Samwilson, Esc3300, srishakatux, C933103, Stashbot, hoo, aude, JanZerebecki, TTO, Liuxinyu970226, Accurimbono, Aklapper, Ricordisamoa, Purodha, liangent, Wikidata-bugs, Vogone, Candalua, SPQRobin, mxn, Filceolaire, jayvdb, Micru, revi, Billinghurst, Lydia_Pintscher, MF-Warburg, zhuyifei1999, Tpt, JohnLewis, D3r1ck01, Izno, Mbch331, Jay8g___ Wikidata-bugs mailing list Wikidata-bugs@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikidata-bugs

If several languages are covered on one wiki then we also usually have the case that we have two pages for one concept on that wiki that would both need to be linked in the same item. This is a limitation, but I don't see why it should be blocking for this task. We can just link to a disambiguation page. And Wikisource doesn't work like Wikipedia... on any WS (not just the multilingual one) you can have multiple versions of the same text (different edition, different translations...) Candalua created this task. Candalua added a subscriber: Candalua. Candalua added a project: Wikidata. Herald added a subscriber: Aklapper. TASK DESCRIPTION When you insert some date, a popup appears while you are typing (I think it's called ui-inputextender) and builds a meaningful date from the characters you typed. The problem is, this popup reloads as-you-type, and it takes some time to load; so if you press the Save button before the //last character// of the date was loaded in the popup, then a truncated date is saved (eg. 1 instead of 1999). I think a safer behaviour would be to disable the Save button when the user types a key and the popup starts loading, and re-enable it when the popup completes. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T88437: figure out current state of time storage and display
Candalua added a comment. For dates expressed in calendar other than Julian and Gregorian, I think we probably need to add those calendars to the list of options. For the countries which kept using the Julian calendar for some time after 1582, I think we should insert both the Julian date and the Gregorian one, so that there can be no confusion. Of course the correct calendar must be assessed on a case-by-case basis: my proposal for the default calendar simply tries to minimize the number of cases when the correct calendar is different from the default. It will not always provide the correct default, as this is impossible to know, but it would be an improvement from the current situation. [Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Commented On] T87312: User interface displays false birth and death dates
Candalua added a subscriber: Candalua. Candalua added a comment. Please fix this as soon as possible. Right now, ALL dates before 15 oct 1582 are displayed incorrectly and the users are getting a basically false information. And the worse thing is, while this bug is around, some users (me included, before I was told about this bug by Jc3s5h) are already correcting the dates! When this bug is fixed, lot of edits will need to be identified and rollbacked to put things back into order. So while somebody works on this, I suggest to make a big big notice appear when users try to edit some date, to tell them about the bug so that they can refrain from editing pre-1582 dates unless they know exactly what they're doing, so that the situation doesn't become totally messed up! Otherwise we'll going to have a big mix of Julian and Gregorian dates, all saved as Gregorian and therefore indistinguishable from each other and completely untrustable. Also, please notice that the default calendar URI when inserting a date before 15 oct 1582, should be Julian and not Gregorian. So the interface should automatically assign the Julian calendar URI if the user inserts such a date. Please solve this bug as soon as you can. Thanks.
