Waiting a day is important, as that is the max cache time that is used in any of the chains. Technically, User:Teester/ClaimMaps.js probably shouldn't be using jsondata to access the geojson, but action=query with prop mapdata. regardless, this does not explain why the endpoint was not returning the data, and why after purging it temporarily did before reverting back to missing it. It now does seem cleared up. Right so wikibase.ui.entityViewInit is included on these pages. It runs
createEntityView() on this page, which in turn has this marked as
entityNamespace = "mediainfo" and that then attempts to create the
mediainfoview, which doesn't exist and thus fails.

It seems that it is not a dependency of another module, so it must have been
included deliberately from the php side. The only place that seems to add this

TASK DESCRIPTION
Much of what wikidata page banner does is now possible with much simpler CSS

Then instead of applying transform and margin offsets on a parent item, we
should be able to use object-position, for which the values should be
determinable based on the difference in the aspect ratios before and after
scaling, with initial being `center center`
We should also add width/height attributes to the initial banner image being
served, as this provides aspect ratio to browsers to base their initial
layout'ing on.

This probably should just be overridden in each Wikivoyage site that uses page banners 2. this seems mostly because of the zebra wrapping of contentsub, which makes the specificity of MediaWiki:Vector.css not enough (Also, that page should be copied to 2022). 3. It seems that the font-size does increase the likelihood of triggering this SOOO much that if you restore the font-size, you almost never seem to trigger the bug again I also cleaned up the indenting of the page banner, which seems unnecessary and is a side effect of its usage of the subtitle. This should be moved into PageBanner extension perhaps, or maybe the page banner should not be using the page-subtitle to begin with. We might have cleaner entry points for adding this content now ? TheDJ added a comment. 2. It seems that voyage actually has a override to font-size: 100%, but due to increased specificity of the the vector-2022 styling rule for 84%, it is no longer applying 3. This might not be 'just' the font-size triggering. It seems that multiple things that influence the eventual effective size of the element actually do. The best way to fix this, seems to be to have the container of the image set "height: auto", but not set height: auto on the img itself. That means the container height can just adapt to the image height, without the height of the image being 'wrong' overriding the logic. Bug 2, for all users: The items in de ToC are pretty small and hard to read Bug 3, for Safari users. The banner seems to be only 20% of the required height All of this has to do with modifications that desktop improvements has made. **Causes** Bug 1: The `vector-body-before-content` is a display:block and therefore pushes the banner down. Bug 2: The font-size of contentSub is overridden from 100% to 84%. Bug 3: The font-size change somehow seems to trigger a subpixel sizing bug in Safari. The width of the image is set to 100% and height to auto, yet with the font size change, it seems it rounds the image dimensions up to a fraction of a pixel. This causes the image to be larger than its container (this should not be possible, it's clearly a safari bug). Because the image is bigger than the container, it then triggers portrait detection <https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-WikidataPageBanner/blob/2dc890f02ec2b66311717029569a55cc78da6e30/resources/ext.WikidataPageBanner.positionBanner/ext.WikidataPageBanner.positionBanner.js#L80>, which in turn sets a margin-top, that causes half the picture to become way to small vertically. Having a default alt tag, will increase the size of an img transclusion on pages, which seems something to keep an eye on. 2. Review... In much the same way as default content from wikidata was a problem for en.wp, I suspect that default content for alt tags from Commons might be a problem for that community. It would be the first text content from Commons that by default becomes part of wp articles, sourced by search engines etc. There is a vandalism angle possible there, and they may argue that Commons' review processes are not setup to detect that, so that might become a conflict point. The fundamental problem here is that encoding of the url is specific to which part of the url you are encoding .This is why we have so many functions to handle encoding in wiki pages: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#URL_data Considering that this is not specified per formatter right now what type of encoding to apply to escape the values, it is currently not possible to do this without mistakes. A solution could be to add a property to the url formatter which specifies what part of the url the value will be substituted into, and use that to determine the correct encoding when escaping the values for the url formatter. TheDJ added a comment. This is a crash in Kartographer where it tries to make a link for the special page. Because subpages cannot start or end with an _ and because the language passed for this link does. I looked into this a bit, but it seems to me like a Wikibase error, not a Kartographer error.. If I run this on a normal pageview, the parser->getLanguage() only returns valid languages. This must mean that the parser instantiated for the enitityviewaction chain is being instantiated without validating if it is a known language. I was looking first at GlobeCoordinateKartographerDataUpdater:updateParserOutput Here the user language of the page is passed to kartographer it seems, sourced from jsconfigvars, without checking if it is known. Its already strange it is using jsconfigvars here, but even if it was that spot, it means that wikibase already instantiated the userlanguage incorrectly for the entire page ??? I don't have a working wikibase install now, so its a bit hard to check much deeper. This is exactly why I said two years ago to completely cut off en.wp from these features, so that we wouldn't have this mess right now. Stop making promises and then NOT keeping them. This completely undermines any remaining trust of the en.wp community in the foundation. This should be TOP priority, drag everyone out of their current tasks and halt all other stuff. You had two years to prepare for this, in which you did NOTHING. This is expected behavior. The primary flag means: these coordinates uniquely represent this page. If you add multiple coordinates then those others are no longer primary. In many wikis these same coordinates are often shown at the top of the page, and would then overlap, if you have two. > This message should not be displayed if coordinate values don't contradict each other. That would add a lot of complexity for very little benefit I think. Thinking about what your primary topic is on a page and which coordinates are primary and secondary to that topic seems like a sane approach to me in most cases. This is a bug in Wikibase's CachingKartographerEmbeddingHandler::getWikiText
function.
It inserts its float values directly into the string, which in php causes it
to output scientific notation for such small values. The JSON part adding the
marker can handle that, but the mapframe attributes cannot handle it. (should
it ?)

It overrides minerva's default of responsive images, for situations where
responsive images just don't work (for various reasons, think image composition
maps, railway diagrams etc).
Ideally this would have some sort of interactivity indicator when an area
like this comes into view (think a slide animation or something), as MacOS and
iOS and some Android browsers no longer show scrollbars before you interact
with the scrollable area.

If you want it back I suggest finding a new volunteer maintainer and developer and petitioning for access to the service. Also parts of the functionality of this service will no longer work, considering that Google maps is now a lot tougher on api access etc, and we are more stringent on privacy issues. TheDJ added a comment. I'm reading this as wanting to have a Lua module so that on Commons you can retrieve the description of a english wikipedia page... ? I'm not sure if the new descriptions have the cross wiki capabilities of Wikidata... Remember that for cross wiki functionality, the change event has to propagate to all the other wikis. Currently only Wikidata and Commons have infrastructure in place for that (and both very dedicated towards their own use case). I wondered where "terms" originated from in wikidata speak. Best I could find was: "Term is a technical concept representing some text (a single string) in a specific language. Allocated in a set contained by a Fingerprint, Terms are used to capture Labels and Descriptions of Entities." @Tgr I'm assuming no markup (like in wikidata). What about text length restrictions ?
Regarding reflecting the wiki base value, i think it's best to indeed have that as an additional value within terms, but probably not by default. I'do think we would need some sort of marker in the API output, to reflect the source of the description
