thiemowmde added a comment. I tried and no, fields marked as 'text' are rendered as `(text)` and not as an textarea. The same happens with fields in api modules that are already updated in core, e.g. in the ApiEditPage module. This is either a bug (actually a blocker because it makes these api modules unusable) or I'm doing something wrong, but I have no idea what. Is there a rough estimate for the release of your rewrite?
