E.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/orange lists all forms spelt "orange" in various languages. It would be a good idea to have a special page which lists all lexemes containing forms with the same spelling (e.g. a page which would list all lexemes which have a lemma or form "orange" in different languages). This would provide a more Wiktionary-like view of the data and it could also perhaps be used with Cognate to link Wiktionary pages to Wikidata and vice versa. That would make it easier for Wiktionary users to navigate to Wikidata, and if we link to the special page from the individual lexemes, also easier for Wikidata users to navigate to Wiktionary. It would be different from a search because it would return things in a consistent order (by language then by part of speech, most likely). In particular, capitalisation and accents matter for Wiktionary, but the search would ignore those. However, the entity suggester in the search bar could display this page as an entry point to all lexemes containing that form (as opposed as showing all forms independently in the entity suggester, which would take too much space). Additionally, when there are more than one form with the same string of characters, the string of characters of the form itself could link to this page, so that the users can navigate from a form in one language to the homograph in another (or the same) language located in a different lexeme. This can be implemented in several ways: - A special page (e.g. "Special:ListLexemes/orange") - A namespace (e.g. "Homograph:orange") Using ns0 for listing homographs is not possible since it is reserved for items.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T195411EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: Mbch331Cc: Aklapper, Liuxinyu970226, Pamputt, Micru, Lea_Lacroix_WMDE, Nikki, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Darkdadaah, Mbch331, AndyTan, Zylc, 1978Gage2001, herron, pan199312, Chicocvenancio, alanajjar, Tbscho, Lea_WMDE, Mattias_Ostmar-WMSE, JJMC89, Jseddon, Ryuch, Mkdw, RuyP, JEumerus, Trizek-WMF, KasiaWMDE, 0x010C, srodlund, Luke081515, grin, Bsadowski1, mys_721tx, Snowolf, Huji, Gryllida, jayvdb, Tobi_WMDE_SW, revi, scfc, He7d3r, Romaine, Jay8g, Glaisher, Krenair, chasemp___

[Wikidata-bugs] [Maniphest] [Retitled] T195411: Create a page to list all forms with a certain spelling

2018-05-29 Thread Micru
Micru renamed this task from "Create special page to list all lexemes with a certain spelling" to "Create a page to list all forms with a certain spelling".Micru updated the task description. (Show Details)
CHANGES TO TASK DESCRIPTIONIn Wiktionary, there is one page for each string of characters, which contains all the lexemeforms spelt the same. E.g. https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/orange lists all the lexemes spelt "orange" in various languagesforms spelt "orange" in various languages.

I think it would be a good idea to have a special page which lists all lexemes with the same spelling (e.g. something like "Special:ListLexemes/orange" which would list all lexemes which have a lemma or form "orange")This can be implemented in several ways:
- A special page (e.g. This would provide a more Wiktionary-like view of the data and it could also perhaps be used with Cognate to link Wiktionary pages to Wikidata and vice versa. That would make it easier for Wiktionary users to navigate to Wikidata, and if we link to the special page from the individual lexemes,"Special:ListLexemes/orange")
- A namespace (e.g. also easier for Wikidata users to navigate to Wiktionary."Homograph:orange")

It would be different from a search because it would return things in a consistent order (by language then by part of speech, most likely), wouldn't be paginated and would return fewer results. In particular, capitalisation and accents matter for Wiktionary, but the search would ignore thoseUsing ns0 for listing homographs is not possible since it is reserved for items.TASK DETAILhttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T195411EMAIL PREFERENCEShttps://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/To: MicruCc: Micru, Lea_Lacroix_WMDE, Nikki, Aklapper, Lahi, Gq86, GoranSMilovanovic, QZanden, LawExplorer, Wikidata-bugs, aude, Darkdadaah, Mbch331___
