Thanks Savithri blush

WE're equally proud to have a senior university leader -- a Principal of a
college at the University of Delhi -- pioneering and supporting the growth
of OER in India. Wow -- the vigour and extent of your ambassadorial
activities for WE are amazing!

I know that the Indian Ministry of Education has expressed interest to
extend L4C training opportunities for all state universities. WE should
follow up this year and see how we can progress this ideal :-). WYSIWYG
editing will reduce the learning curve for newbies and progress OER
development by an order of magnitude!

Cheers
Wayne

 Dear Wayne,

Congratulations. We are proud of you and the Wikieducator. WYSWYG will
help bring in many more people into the OER community. Will do the testing
 and report.

Am continuing to talk about the Wikieducator all over the place - conducted
a 2-day workshop at Dhaka, made a presentation to M.Ed students at RIE,
Mysore, one to teachers at a Workshop in Maitreyi college (they've asked me
to conduct a full fledged workshop for them soon), Delhi Univ..

 Best,
 Savithri

 Hi Patricia,

Thanks for your kind words. There's been a big team working on this
helping with testing, feedback comments etc. WE are also very appreciative
of the patience and understanding from our community in the lead up
 preparing for this move.

Also BIG thanks to the Free/ Open Source Software model -- none of this
would have been possible without the gifting culture and sharing of so many
coders dedicated to making the world a better place. WE all benefit from
 their work.

2010 is going to be an amazing year for OER!

 Cheers
 Wayne

*IMPORTANT MESSAGE GOOD NEWS FOR ALL WIKIEDUCATOR USERS*

We're pleased to announce our long awaited migration to Rich Text Editing
as well as important software updates for the WikiEducator website . This is
a great way to start the new year!

 In this message:

1. Help with final testing of our Rich Text / WYSIWYG Editor
implementation and software updates
2. Scheduled read-only outage of WikiEducator site starting: *Saturday
6 February 20:00 UTC* (Sunday 7 February 09:00 NZDT) or confirm the
start time for your region here:

 http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?day=7month=2year=2010hour=9min=0sec=0p1=22

*1. We need your help with final testing of the Rich text editor* *and
 software upgrades* *before going live*

The WikiEducator technical team has been testing the Rich Text Editor and
a number of important software updates. We are very happy with the
performance and this will add considerable value to our project. To the best
of our knowledge everything is working as it should. However, we would
appreciate a little help from our advanced users for final testing and
identification of any problems we may have overlooked.

1. Please visit your favourite and/or more complicated pages on the
test wiki site (http://we4.wikieducator.net/Main_Page ).
2. Login with your existing Username,
3. Click on the Rich Editor link to activate the WYSIWYG editor
4. Test the functionality of the editor using your favourite pages
(note that this is a test site and your edits will NOT be preserved. Real
work must be done on the live WikiEducator site)
5. Please let us know if any if there are any user created templates
which are not working, missing images etc.
6. Report any problems you experience with the editor on this list by
Wednesday 3 February 2010.

With any migration of this size, we anticipate that there may be a few
teething problems. WE will address in good time. We will try to fix any
problems before the go live date, but we may need to schedule some fixes
according to priority after the go-live date. However, we feel that the
advantages of Rich Text Editing outweigh any teething problems we may
 experience.

Known issue: 1) Templates for print-specific behaviours will not work
with the wiki-to-pdf feature at this time because of changes Pedia Press
have implemented in the wiki syntax used for this feature. We need to update
these templates within the first weeks of the new installation. Any help
from advanced users for these updates is well received :-)

are interested in offer Chinese lesson ( either on line or ofline to )
foreigners who want to learn Chinese .

WYSIWYG function , I am not a techie person , so would you mind to help us
with this .

if we can convince teacher to USE WE here , then we don't need to build our
own platform

Thanks

WE are planning to go live with the installation of WYSIWYG editing on 7
February 2010 -- won't be long before this is operational.

Would be good if you can test whether this will work with Chinese characters
on the test site:

We have planned this outage to coincide with the weekend for most users

longer. However, we are aiming to complete the migration within the
 scheduled time frame.
