Hello fellow Wikimedians, librarians, bibliophiles, and information
enthusiasts,

The May round of the 2022 1Lib1Ref <https://1lib1ref.org/> starts just
tomorrow 15 May 2022 and will run until 5th June 2022. Are you going to be
joining us to improve the reliability of Wikipedia's content for the
billions of readers who rely on Wikipedia as a source of information?

In the past year or so we have been piloting different modes of
participation in the campaign. In May 2021 we encouraged adding sources on
Wikidata, in January 2022 we improved on that, added opportunities to
create Wikidata items related to works on Wikisource, and added 9 new
languages from the CEE on citation hunt
<https://citationhunt.toolforge.org/en?id=3c84e6ae>. We are
encouraging the addition
of references to decrease gender bias on Wikipedia
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Participate#Adding_references_to_decrease_gender_bias>
and 12 new languages from Africa, and Asia in the upcoming May round.

If you are already familiar with the campaign or editing on Wikipedia and
would like to experiment a bit, we invite you to try our new contribution
methods for advanced contributors
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/The_Wikipedia_Library/1Lib1Ref/Participate#Creating_new_articles_on_Wikipedia>
in the May 2022 round.

If you are an organizer, remember to add your local event(s) to the campaign
dashboard
<https://outreachdashboard.wmflabs.org/campaigns/1lib1ref_may_2022/overview>,
so we can learn and track activities happening across the world. Read more
about the campaign at the blog post on Diff
<https://diff.wikimedia.org/2022/05/11/the-may-round-for-1lib1ref-is-back-with-a-more-diverse-campaign-and-even-more-languages/>
.
Join us to improve the reliability of Wikipedia articles one source at a
time!
