Food for thought: Do we want a handful of super-editors more than we want thousands and thousands of casual or just normal contributors? Perhaps we shouldn't focus on measuring performance in such a scoreboard fashion. A more interesting number, to me, would be number of newbies mentored and successfully retained. I'm not saying we need to actively measure that (thought we might try), but that that is a more meaningful measure, for the health of our communities and our global movement. Hi Asaf, Thanks for your views. I am in complete agreement with you. However others may feel that process is as important as editing or that admins are as/more important as/than editors.The scoreboard effect gives pleasure to some who value the number of admin actions taken on the belief that such actions are valuable to Wikipedias in general. These views are generally acceptable, as long as one does not take these views to extremes. As such, it reflects a diversity of views in the Indian Wikipedia scenario. I am one of those who liked your idea. Do you have any ideas as to how to keep track of such statistics? Is there a bot which can count the number of welcome templates or messages placed by an editor on new talk pages? I'm eager to hear more as I'm sure are other others on this list! But I don't understand what he is doing in Hindi wiki. :) Some examples: * I saw he himself changed his account rights many times (http://hi.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Logtype=rightsuser=Mayurpage=year=month=-1tagfilter=hide_review_log=1). * Using 'abuse filter' excessively, such that blocking or warning a new user who did his/her first edit (http://hi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:AbuseLog?title=Special:AbuseLogwpSearchUser=wpSearchFilter=0wpSearchTitle). (even mayurbot invoking abuse filter!) * Sometimes he even imported commons file to Hindi local (http://hi.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Logpage=Image:Cave%2C+from+inside.jpg) ! I don't know why, but I feel that he is requesting almost every (just exaggerating :)) extension available for mediawiki to Hindi Wikipedia and using Wikipedia as his test wiki.
