Since this issue involves people from all spheres of Wikipedia movement, I feel it is wise that she was chosen to do this to given an objective view. We don't need an Indian to analyze this issue. This was what I tried to allude to earlier- consultants, employees, > generally people with paid engagement for a topic, leave after the said > term of their engagement. Similarly, employees and consultants may leave. But, WMF will be there and I can see that Barry and others are trying their best to address this issue in their official capacity. Let's please discuss the issues put forward by the report instead of discussing how the report itself should have been done. The former is more important. Re: [Wikimediaindia-l] Analysis of IEP: Quantitative Analysis & Tory Read's Report
I have responded to the question posed on the talk page [1]. For those interested in this issue, please join the discussion there. One of the big points of feedback from the en:wp community is that too much discussion happens in places like mailing lists and wikis outside of WP where few Wikipedians engage. We are responding to this feedback by centering discussions in open places on WP (while not ignoring the lists by any means). [Wikimediaindia-l] Fwd: [Wikitech-l] FeaturedFeeds deployed
Hello all, This makes the "featured content" available and share-able in more machine readable format and also gives many possibilities. 1. Blogs / Websites can now carry content feeds from Wikipedia / WikiProjects 2. Feeds can be posted automatically to facebook pages to share featured content socially. 3. Mobile and apps (but untill fonts / rendering is fixed, it might not be as much useful) I just tried to pull up "On This Day" content from Tamil Wikipedia onto my blog with a widget, it was just matter of few minutes to make it happen. Please share this with content websites and if they are interested in giving us some space, please take this forward. Let me know if you need help in setting up these for your wiki's. This will however be fruitful only if featured content gets generated consistently. You might also want to read more about importance of Front Page content(in Tamil Wiki Community) here[1] Regards, Srikanth L [1] http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2011/Submissions/The_Evolution_and_Importance_of_the_Main_Page_in_Tamil_Wikipedia -- Forwarded message -- From: Max Semenik Date: Thu, Jan 26, 2012 at 18:36 Subject: [Wikitech-l] FeaturedFeeds deployed To: Wikimedia developers Yesterday we deployed FeaturedFeeds[1] to the cluster (thanks, Arthur!) Everything looks good so far, examples of feeds: [2], [3]. We haven't enabled feed links in the sidebar like on our staging wiki at [4] - I wonder if we should enable them on opt-in or opt-out basis. Overall, I'd apreciate your critics, comments, suggestions. Also, please assist your local communities in seting up their feeds, especially if you know less common languages. --- [1] https://blog.wikimedia.org/2012/01/26/featuredfeeds-brings-syndication-feeds-of-featured-wikimedia-content/ [2] https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=featuredfeed&feed=featured&feedformat=atom [3] https://it.wikiquote.org/w/api.php?action=featuredfeed&feed=qotd&feedformat=atom [4] http://mobile-feeds.wmflabs.org/w/index.php/Main_Page -- Best regards, Max Semenik ([[User:MaxSem]]) ___ Wikitech-l mailing list wikitec...@lists.wikimedia.org https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikitech-l -- Regards Srikanth.L ___ Wikimediaindia-l mailing list Wikimediaindia-l@lists.wikimedia.org To unsubscribe from the list / change mailing preferences visit https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/wikimediaindia-l
