You might see more info using some of the other similar products. My

If you have run away cpu load. Create a supout.rif file and send it
to MikroTik support and they can figure it out. The supout.rif
contains info I understand about running processes but they are the
only ones that have the tool to view the content of the .rif file.

I checked all of this before posting. That is the reason for the
original question about how to see processor load. I was hoping
 someone
would know that Mikrotik had provided something like top (for
 Linux) or
Task Manager (for Windows) that shows the processes using the
processor. Would make it a lot easier to find that the problem is a
filter rule or something like that.

 Tom DeReggi wrote:
Are you talking about a 233 mhz or 400 mhz 532?

Well the first step is how much traffic is teh RF sending? 2
 mbps in an
Eth port, could be 15 mbps going out a RF port if lots of
 retransmissions
 due to noise.
We typically saw 233Mhz 532 peak out at full CPU utulization at
 18mbps or
so. If two PTP links, its possible the two links are interfering
 with each
 other.
As well, if you are using WDS Slave (true bridging) accross the RF
 paths,
there is not coordiantion to prevent self interference, and it
 uses much
more CPU processing than non-WDS routed modes. Not saying it the
 problem,
but additional factors to investigate. As well, look for high
 rate of small
packets, for possible DOS attacks. Its real common to see ssh
 attacks.

Anyone know an easy way to figure out what a 532 with 2 PtP links
 on it
would be running at 80+%? No queues, no filters. Moving about
 2Mbps
from the 2 backhauls down the wire.

10mhz channel, 24mbit air rate, 9.6mbit UDP, 9.3 TCP from MT to MT via

I know that with DDWRT, you have to pay for the license and you get a

 Not sure about OpenWRT.
I don't recall any current UBNT I have used that did not support ff

comp. I have used most, except for the newest that just came out.

It appears that only SOME of the Ubiquiti products enable compression

 fast
frames, some don't. Is this accurate? Any success stories using
 the
 WRT
 firmware on these products?

It seems that the hardware is capable, just hasn't been enabled in the
firmware unless you purchase the higher end, more expensive products.

This seems to be the ONLY thing keeping me from using these products
 in
 a
big way as opposed to what I use now, StarOS.

 Subject: Re: [WISPA] Senate Bill

Well, keying in letters on the dtmf keypad of a phone means it's 1-4
presses per digit. Morse code is 1-4 presses per letter or 5 for
numbers. Input encoding: Morse code is 1-2 press options (depending on
the input device), a phone is 10-12 keys to use. So I'd say they are
comparable for text data efficiency, and morse wins hands for hand-eye
 coordination or simplicity.

Thus if phones had morse code encoders and decoders built in, people
could text easier with less distraction. You know kids would learn morse
code in order to become superior texters.

It's been proven that a person using Morse code to enter a text message
 will

 messaging
pretty much the same type of thing as sending in Morse? We went from
 Morse
to voice and it was a big improvement but now it's retro and we're back
 to
the text. So my thought was, coming up with a phone that would do
 semaphore
and then after that caught on, go for smoke signals then later still,
 the
cell phone could tell my kid to run down the street and give my message
 in
person. At that point there would be no need for the cell phone and we
could charge for the luxury of not having one.

I guess one might say that was the original concept. I suppose smoke
signals would qualify as well. Or maybe a bottle with a note cast into
 the sea? LOL!

Yeah, the PTZ was about $2000 for a good one, great zoom, enclosure w/ fan

Re: [WISPA] Fw: [TowerTalk] Tower Vandalism

2009-09-06 Thread Travis Johnson
In my area... yes. Several Fish Game officers have been shot by
hunters when they get caught poaching in the middle of nowhere. People
get clubbed or shot at all the time when they are surprised by someone
being there, and they go into can't let this person tell anyone what we
just did mode.

Is it really worth the confrontation over a tower? Maybe if you could
take 10 other guys with you, but otherwise it's not worth it. By the
time you get there, the tower will already be over. 15 seconds with an
18v milwaukee sawzall and a sharp blade will cut through a tower leg
like butter.
