I have 2 towers with Canopy 100 Omni APs in 2.4 GhZ that are fairly loaded
and I need to sectorize them. The issue I have is that one of them is a free
standing Rohn 40ft with the AP mounted to the mast, the other is the same
thing with a 56 ft tower. I recently did a site from an omni to 3 120 degree
sectors in 2.4, but the tower was a 180 foot tower and I had all the room in
the world for vertical separation, we went about 10 foot between sectors
starting from the top, everything looks and works great.
I wouldn't mind doing a 4 sector system here using channels 1 11, my
concern is finding an antenna that could possibly go back to back for the
same channel, as well as not causing interference to the other set of 2
radios doing the other channel. I really don't have a lot of physical
separation to work with, hoping that maybe 4 or 5 foot of vertical would
work. I have not done much conversion sectorizing before, its just been a
standard nowadays with doing Ubiquiti equipment on newer installations.
The radios I use are the simple Canopy APs with the N connector pigtail, all
vertical polarization. Ideally I need to upgrade the 2 towers to a whole
different platform, but breaking these towers down to sharing between 3 or 4
APs would be a vast improvement.
Thanks
Heith
